    Terms & Conditions

For each friend or family member you invite to join Powershop via our Switch Your Mates promotion, where that person:
•is not already a Powershop customer; and
•has not received credit for signing up to Powershop within the last 12 months; and
•who signs up their main home to Powershop on or before the 31 August 2017

you'll get $50 credited to your Powershop account (Referrer Credit).

You'll receive that Referrer Credit once your invited friend or family member has switched to Powershop. Your friend will receive their credit of $150 at this time too (Friend Credit). These credits are only available for use in Powershop for purchasing electricity products and cannot be refunded or redeemed for cash.

Powershop never wants to spam anyone. We run our Switch Your Mates promotions solely to allow our customers to refer their friends and family. By using our Switch Your Mates email or link sharing functions, you confirm that the recipients of the email or link have consented to receiving this message from you. Employees of Powershop are not eligible to be referred to Powershop through this promotion, but may refer their friends and family to Powershop. Powershop may, at its sole discretion, either decline to apply any Referrer/Friend Credit, or remove any Referrer/Friend Credit granted, where it reasonably believes that the Referrer and/or the Friend are taking unfair advantage of this offer. Examples include, but are not limited to, the same house being successively signed up to numerous occupants within a 24 month period in order to claim the credit; or where it is apparent to Powershop that the referral is not genuine. Powershop may require proof of identification or a tenancy agreement in order to verify eligibility of this offer.

If Powershop, in its sole opinion, considers you are not complying with these terms and conditions we may exclude you from being able to use this promotion in the future.

    • That has been added to the referral system.

      • referrals don't seem to be working

        • OK, should work now. The ?p=1074 was borking things so have added that to the template.

If you ring powershop directly, they'll give you $150 credit over the first 3 months. Credit into your account every 20th of the month.

  • Team, in the interested of transparency be super careful with Powershop. Word on the street is that this past winter has been RIDICULOUS for rates.. so this promotion is probably to reclaim all of the customers they've lost. A lot of billshock going on for Powershop customers, so just do your research before you switch.

    • The Flick spot prices have been absolutely ridiculous also! I was getting upto $40 a week.

I switched from flick to powershop to take advantage of the $150 credit and more stable prices over middle of winter, but my intent is to go back to flick probably in September once things settle down.

Has worked out for me, bill was $80 last month, that's with a heat pump and small heater in the bedroom most nights. But without the credits they do seem more expensive. I have taken ever special they have offered too.

      • $80 a month for how much kWh?

        • 657 kWh
          $81.17

But there was credits applied and all the special power packs they offered etc.

          I'm on low user rates.

        • @icekayak: wow that's cheap. Would that be $81.17+$50 credit though?

When I was on PS, I got sick of the 29 cents pay first power packs and monthly 20% off, ~1 weeks worth power packs (Auckland low user)

      • Did exactly the same went to ps to get the 150 credit and will likely go back to a cheaper option. Rinse repeat. Maybe.

  • i use powershop in summer and electric kiwi in winter (as long as you can be organized to use as much power in the 1 hour free power as possible its quite good)
