I ported away after the previous 6 months deal ended - guess its time to move back!

  • Would 2d prepay moving onto a pay monthly be considered new customers?

    • +2

just confirmed with 2degrees that as long as you are not on a pay monthly plan currently, you are considered a new customer.

  • i tried this last time, they delayed my connection and ended uo getting the discount in the 2nd bill, i paid 59 dollars on the first bill, then the duration already started so i only got 5 months of the discounted plan

  • Any downsides to 2degrees or these pay monthly plans? I take it they're the same as every other monthly contract type plans and you can cancel at any time?

*Too lazy to research myself :D

    • Hi BMT,

I have never had any issues with 2D. Their customer service wipes the floor with Vodafone (when I was with Spark, they were also good, but 2D is the same). Coverage could be an issue I guess, but I never have any issues in Auckland, and if out of town, I believe you get to use Vadafone's network at no extra charge, so coverage should be at least equal to them (not 100% certain on that, but it seems to make sense).

I am currently on a 2D Pay-Monthly plan, so this offer is not available to me this time, but you really should read the specifics of the offer in case there is anything that would be a problem for you (minimum terms for example, and what happens to your previous discounts if you leave after, say, seven months).

Having said that, I might look at moving to Spark. Perhaps I should go and talk to 2D to ask them how I go about transferring away and see what they say :-)

      Alan.

      • Hi Alan, did you have any luck with 2D customer care?

        • I haven't actually made it in to 2D yet.

I am actually seriously considering moving to Vodafone with their offer, even though I said would never go back there due to their customer services (or lack thereof).

          Alan.

  • there seems to be no minimum term, that's good.

  • The deal seems a bit odd as it discourages current customers for their loyalty to 2D and only rewards new customers…

    • Well I imagine you have a fair few GB from the previous data hunt promos.

      • nice baiting eh ;)

    • I sent them a message as a established customer and they didn't seem sympathetic : "check out our carryover plans which we've recently revamped". As I am on prepay I'll try to get grandfathered in as a new Payonthly customer, or look at the competition…

Post any luck you have here

  • Does it only go half price after the first payment? The initial payment is showing as $40 for the 3gb plan.

  • they have a specific date or cutoff dates for a specific bill period like every 4th of the month, if they activated your plan say on the 10, you will pay the amount you used on the 11th till the 4th of next month in full and then the discount will apply on your second bill. The six month duration does not guarantee you will pay six months of discounted use, which is what happened to mine last time, I only got 5 months of the discounted amount because they counted the six months duration upon activation of my plan wherein the discount does not apply on my first bill.

    • the T&C says 6 consecutive months though, so if they missed the first month you should get the next 6 discounted?

  • Any current customers had any luck getting them to give them the discount too?
