You will earn 15 Qantas Points for every 1 cent per litre AA Smartfuel discount that you convert. You can choose to convert AA Smartfuel discounts into Qantas Points on a one-time basis (‘One-off Reward') or set them to automatically convert on an on-going basis (‘Automatic Reward').
It's totally up to you and you can change at any time.
The value of non-fuel rewards may differ from the value of AA Smartfuel discounts.
Plus, select Qantas Frequent Flyer as your Automatic Reward partner by 16 April and you'll earn 100 bonus Qantas Points to get you started.
AA Smartfuel Discounts can now be Converted to Qantas Points (1c = 15 Qantas Pts)

$100/18,000= 0.5 cents value per Qantas point (better to redeem them for a toaster). There are better options to use Qantas points (mostly pre Covid), eg 8,000 points for a one way flight from SYD to Lord Howe (worth ~$400, 5 cents per point). Qantas points aren't the most valuable points currency out there.
It all depends on personal preference though.
I personally don't feel I get as much value from AA Smartfuel than the app says. Typically, on 10c discount days, I've noticed the pump price is higher on the same day so in reality I only end up saving 6c or so which is similar to the normal 6c off at Mobil or Z. Sure, I can bank the 10c discount days as long as I use it by the end of the following month, but then I'm limited to 50 litres. Although I am an Auckland based driver… not sure if others have noticed, just feels like a false economy.
So automatically using it for something else like Qantas, helps me actually use it.
Terrible earning rate I think. To get 18,000 points you need $12/litre off. If you redeem for petrol $12/litre off for 50 litres is worth $600. 18,000 Qantas points is only enough for an Auckland Sydney one way plus taxes, which is only worth about $100 pre-covid. Might get better value if you use the points to upgrade to business class.
