Travel Hack Ex Auckland: Melbourne, Australia from $104 One Way, Berlin, Germany from $454, London from $500 @ Beat That Flight

870

After working on this deal on ozbargain, I realised with some travel hacking we could probably get some great prices from NZ too.

After some playing with dates, indeed!

Doing a normal search from Auckland to London gets you NZ$988.

Example of my hack:

Auckland to Melbourne: $104
Melbourne to Berlin: $350
Berlin to London: $46

Total: $500

Why do people keep downvoting you immediately..? I know you’re associated with a business, but I still appreciate the effort you put into your posts - this one, and those massive flight date comparisons!

Are you thinking this because beatthatflight starts off at 0⬆️ 0⬇️?

If so, it’s because he/she is associated with a business.

      • Ohhhh gotcha, thanks for clarifying

When doing an associated post , you start at 0 rather than 1. Downvotes show in red, none on this post :)

This is a hell of a hack but pulling off the timing, baggage on and off between flights, delays, any other unforseens would be stress inducing beyond belief. I'm looking at a flight from Chch to London end of May but getting everything to fall into place would be nerve racking and a heart rate north of 100 for the full 30 hours of travel.

Yeah, I spaced them out with a night between the Mel and Berlin ones to test, you could make it tighter, or even give yourself breathing room with two night stopovers in Melbourne or Berlin if that suited.

Let us know how you go. A true cheapie wouldn't hesitate 😉😉😉

Great post, super cheap and although long some may want the extra 600 bucks to spend at the destination!

yeah, people often complain about budget airlines, but if you spend the difference on a couple nights in nice hotels, vs a slightly less cramped plane….it's pretty good!

    • Hopefully you don't lose all the money you use for booking a cheap fare and have to spend 600 at the airport :D. Check who you book with as many have been scammed already. Read reviews before you buy from any overseas website.

Great deal. Just note that none of these flights appear to include checked luggage which would be an additional $100-$300 per flight for approx 20kg. Also, it would pay to include those extra nights between flights as by travelling on 3 separate tickets if you miss any connecting flights due to delays etc. the connecting airline is under no obligation to carry you on a later flight.

    • For this much of a bargain, just fly with hand carry and buy entire new wardrobe when you arrive

Thanks for sharing, but a word of caution for anyone who wants to take this deal: if you are booking the flights separately, just make sure you double and triple check any pre-departure requirements and local quarantine requirements. I understand you will have to enter Australia with the Jetstar fare, which requires ~$200 pre-departure COVID test at the moment, plus going straight into self-isolation (based on current VIC state regulations). I am not sure if they would let you hang around the airport until your next flight.
Hopefully, the restrictions for Europe is easing soon, but some countries may require another pre-departure test if you are flying from Australia, which would set you back $150-200.
So always pay to check the requirements before take the risk with these deals.

Just reading any post about international travel makes me super excited - I can't wait for things to clear up for travel soon!!

  • Just a note to the community that beware of who you book with from the provided deals as there are a few scam websites that offer cheaper fare but don't actually issue a ticket, read the reviews online. And it is near impossible to get a refund/credit. Some of these are mytrip.com, kiwi.com, flightnetwork, travelgenio.

Better to book with the local NZ website or directly with the airline. Do check the reviews before you book with anyone.
