  • we have molenberg in our warehouse, i kinda embarrased to try and get it for 1c though, has anyone priced matched anything at supie before

Might not work because they don't have a physical store? It's all delivery.

Also, The Warehouse state the 'lowered price cannot be combined with any other TWL or competitor’s promotion'
This promo is conditional on $100 spend so may be difficult.

  • Not a bad deal for Moldenberg. Make sure you chuck this stuff in the freezer as soon as you get it as it goes off quickly.

    • That's our experience too - even the bread we make at home with no preservatives in at all seems to last longer.

Moldenberg lol - also agree. The best one I've found for longevity (and taste for a supermarket bread) is Ploughman's. Love their Rustic White and Harvest Rye loaves.

    • I have been eating this stuff for years, i freeze it before eating seems to kill the mould issue.
Eat the loaf in around 4 days but the loaf previously is still mould free (crusts left in bag for birds)

Random comment: Not trying to discourage anyone from the clearly great deal, but have you guys noticed a lot of bread contains soy flour? I think it's there just to add protein/texture and probably to extend the shelf life, however I tend to avoid those products whenever possible. I've only seen Vogels not using Soy Flour, it seems every other brand adds it in.

    • Never noticed that.

What is the issue with soy flour (rather than, say, wheat flour)?

I wouldn't say it's inherently bad, I'm unsure if they use GMO Soy Flour, if you have a lot of bread potentially the phytoestrogen issue could be a problem, however recent studies seem to suggest it's generally safe for most people in moderate consumption.

I tend to avoid Soy, that being said, I have it once in awhile (I like to eat tofu every now and then). I just never noticed they used Soy Flour in bread, pretty much the only brand I saw that didn't was Vogels or some of the artisanal bakeries.

Okay - never heard of anyone having issues when they ate Soy, but I don't doubt there will be people.

I know people who react badly to wheat (actually gluten I believe), so they would eat bread made with other flours entirely I guess.

If you look at the ingredients list there is probably a few more items more alarming than soy flour

We tend to get our bread from baker delight they are freshly made with just simple ingredients (and they go off a bit quicker so you need to keep them in the fridge)

At a guess it'll be to increase the protein vs carbohydrate %. Some people think carbs are bad or cause weight gain whereas protein helps you feel full for longer. Everything in moderation.
