Hey guys, I picked up this power bank and it died in a year with less then 20 uses. Rather spend more on a higher quality brand.

If (and I'm not 100% sure) this falls under accessories (Power Adapter, Battery, Cables) then PB tech covers them for up to 3 years after purchase.

      • Could probably CGA that it should last 3yrs since thats what PB also covers on their paid service

PB Care is the extended warranty program for laptops.
If its a reasonable timeframe and no damage to the product it will likely get covered if you ask nicely.

        • Can find out why PB Tech isn't selling these seeing as to how well they're reviewed and praised about by reddit/oz bargain and reviewers

@Huntakillaz: We just started stocking Anker so maybe in the future?

            • @mdsl32: What about the Xiaomi?

              • @Huntakillaz: Xiaomi does have products they don't intend to sell to the western market ie no English packaging. But given it is a highly rated product i dont know why.

                • @mdsl32: Both are sold in Aus which is why it's weird not being sold here.

                  • @Huntakillaz: Best guess is they are parallel imported mobileciti is one place that seems to sell that brand but i know they do sell side import items (went into their store and bought a laptop from them last year)

              • @Huntakillaz: That's basically out of stock all the time in AU anyway

      • PBCare is PBTech's extended warranty addon program for laptops and PC's lol.

I had a Xiaomi last a good 18 months of daily use before it started to fall apart

Sounds like bad luck mine is 4years and still going strong.

I've got this one as well. And just to let you guys aware, the USB-C is Output only as mentioned on the PB page. You can't charge via USB-C; only the micro-USB slot.

oh lame, thanks for saving me a trip there!

      • ^ This.

Sorry, mistake in the comment. USB-C only for charging the power bank. You can't use it to charge your device (e.g. charging apple watch).

        So it's input only… WHY! 🤦‍♂️

        Confirmed:

Still not making the trip, just as bad haha

        • Most of the cheap ones have the same issue. I am not sure why. Wish those usb c were both ways.

          • +1

@ace310: One issue with 2-way USB-C is that you can accidentally use your device to charge the powerbank - making it 1 way is a quick and dirty way to avoid it.

            • @morepork: Fair enough, so why not have 2 usb-c and 1 usb-a rather then 2 usb-a. It is cost or some sort of limitation.

Many powerbanks have 2 usb-a output and 1 usb-c input.

            • +2

@morepork: The USB standard handling it so that you can't accidentally charge it using the device. It is their way to not putting additional cost to be compliant to it (by making it input only)

          • +3

@ace310: Mainly due to the cost of USB-C PD and the standard that they have to meet. Component cost of making USB-C PD compliant is quite high.

I guess that's why the USB-C Output option is more pricey: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/BAPMIX005785/Xiaomi-Power-B…

Bought one a few hours ago, taking forever to charge. Nice packaging and informative though

    • +2

Charging Time: Approx. 7.5 hours (5 V/2 A charger, charging cable included)

    • Yeah down sides of not having USB-PD, it's too slow now if its something you use often
