    I don't have Sky but My Sky was free in the UK (to Sky subscribers). Competition really is a good thing (BT, Sky UK and Virgin Media).

    Yeah I'm surprised they even offer Sky without a MySky now.
    Last I checked there wasn't a basic Sky box that did HD, so maybe that's another option. ie upgrade to the HD ticket (because it's only mid 2017 and it's not like HD is standard or anything) and would they have to give you a MySky box to use that anyway?

      They are installing MySky boxes as standard from what I can gather. We didn't sign up for it, but got the box. They then control the access to the storage and features remotely.

    The place that we're living in at the moment does not have a rooftop aerial , so we can't even get the basic channels like freeview. I was wondering if I can get a service like sky under promotion of a free installation. Then perhaps cancel after a period of time, but hopefully I can still keep freeview.

    Does anyone know if this will or won't work?

      Yup, they'll install a dish. So you'd need a DVB-S box to get Freeview after that. IF you know anyone with a Tivo box, you could sign up for the $20 a month deal for a few months.
