  • A Gull has just opened on Neilson St in Onehunga, a couple of hundred metres down from the Z that opened about a month ago. Saw the price today at $1.69 vs Z at something like $1.86 (wonder how long that will last). Remembered hearing this ad on the radio and thought it must have already started but apparently not! Will be interesting to see if it drops tomorrow then.

Hmm yeah that sounds like the normal pricing for both Gull and Z, so not surprised at all, haha. You should download Gaspy and gasp at the price differences. :)

      • Yeah I have Gaspy, I don't use it much as the search function doesn't seem to work for me.

        • They did an update not too long ago. Has your app been updated yet? Or maybe your GPS is turned off.

I know this has expired now but just thought I'd confirm I went down to the new Onehunga station last night and price was indeed $1.59. Sorely needed in this area, til now I've always tried to fill up when visiting West or South Auckland.

Have to say I don't like their style of self-service payment machines (very confusing electronic interface and the well-intentioned physical privacy guards on either side mean you can't see if anyone nefarious might be coming towards you with your wallet out late at night). No tyre filling pump either that I could see, which I make regular use of.

Still it's great to have better competition in the area.

  • Is it just me or does Gull's bioethanol mix empties faster than other brands?

    • If you're talking about Gull Force 10 98 octane, then yes i believe it's known for being less efficient than non ethanol blends. If your car is designed to take it, for which there's a compatibility list on their site, then you can just run the math on whether its cheaper to buy the Gull stuff that provides less kms, or the competition at typically a slightly higher cost.
