Depends if you want to press with protections under the consumer guarantees act. You most definitely can with LED bulbs well outside of the range of a manufacturers "warranty"
+1 with Dazza's comment. CGA will definitely protect you on this, especially if the product itself advertises it as being able to survive for x amount of hours.
Yep CGA will protect you even after warranty period as you purchased this with the intention that it would last the xxx amount of hours that was advertised on the product. I got like 20 of these panasonic LED bulbs from PB last year and 3 have blown already less than 1 year of use. The rest are still going though so I just assume its luck or really bad quality control on their end.
yeah indeed. I have had a few led lamps replaced no questions asked from Bunnings, even about 2 years later…given the hours use claim etc…
Even branded bulbs only carry a 12-month warranty, so keep that in mind—rather than rated hours of use—when buying long-life bulbs. I recently had a Panasonic CFL only last two years and less than half its rated hours, but I couldn't do anything because it was outside the warranty period; I had this confirmed by Panasonic support.
