About the product
Wired network is strongly recommended

Steam Link is designed to take advantage of the horsepower you already have in your home, streaming from your current gaming computer by mirroring its experience to your TV.
Video and audio data is sent from your computer to the Steam Link, while your controller input is sent back in real time. Virtually every game that your computer runs can be played on your TV.Product description
The Steam Link allows existing Steam gamers to expand the range of their current gaming set up via their home network. Just connect your Steam PC or Steam Machine to your home network, plug into a TV, and stream your games to the Link at 1080p.
I picked up a Steam Link last time when it was on sale for this price. The Steam Link won't replace your Xbox or PlayStation, but it's an interesting little device.
Steam Link uses Big Picture Mode from the Steam client installed on your PC so you will need a Steam account. I can attest that the Steam Link can stream Steam and non-Steam games from your PC to HD television nicely. Steam Link also connects to the Internet and has basic browser functions and access to the Steam store. Ethernet connection is recommended as is a suitable wireless/bluetooth controller (game pad or keyboard/mouse).
While there's talk of bringing apps to Steam Link, it isn't possible at this stage. However, you can use the Steam client to shortcut programs installed on your PC like Kodi and make it accessible via Steam Link. You can also mirror your PC screen to your television and work with other programs. However, this workaround isn't successful for every program.
Note: You won't need a compatible adapter/plug as the Steam Link comes boxed with an adapter and set of international plugs (including AU/NZ). Steam Link is ready to work straight from the box. Nice work Valve.
