    I guess it's paid with nzd so it's ok, I'm used to paying with foreign money and the value can change by the time it arrives so that'd be 2 close for my liking

Just FYI - I purchased 2 x $389 ($399 incl postage) iPads from Dicksmiths, they arrived within about 3 working days and I didn't get stung GST for either. From what I understand unless it explicitly states import duties payable, there are none payable with Dicksmith.

I have previously posted similar deals from DSE online, and I specifically ask them about the GST, their reply was they guarantee there won't be any GST occurred for purchases under $400. Unless the new law is in place, $400 should still be the threshold I believe.
