Motorola Moto G5S 32GB $299 Delivered @ JB Hi-Fi

80

Good price for a decent budget phone. Motorola Moto G5s. Down from previous price of $349. RRP on release 6 months ago was $399.

  • 5.2" Full HD (1920x1080) Touchscreen
  • 16MP Main Camera
  • 32GB Internal Memory
  • 3GB RAM
  • Micro USB
  • 5MP Front, 16MP Rear Dual Camera
  • Snapdragon 430. Octa-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A53
  • 3000 mAh battery

Decent storage and RAM, good value for $299. Some might prefer a Xiaomi where you can get a better processor for similar or less, eg Mi A1, but this is a good option and good build quality if you didn't want to import from overseas.

  • You mean 3 GB of RAM?

      Yep, also fixed thanks.

  • Does anyone know if this has the right band support to work properly on the Spark network? Thanks heaps for your time :)

  • I wouldn't recommend getting this. You can get a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro with Snapdragon 650, 4000 mah, 32GB internal storage and IRRC, 3GB of RAM,, 5.5' screen, for less than $200 NZD nowadays on Aliexpress or elsewhere. I remember buying mine for around $230 NZD about 2 years ago. Fantastic phone and the battery life is AWESOME. I'm a phone fanatic, have used multiple Android devices, tried a lot of custom ROMs and rooting and tweaks etc. This was the first phone that I didn't really need to do too much to make the battery last long. It's such a good phone, except slightly bogged down by the MIUI OS.

If you know what you're doing, you can easily install a custom ROM on the phone and it'll be mintah. If you don't know what you're doing, you can still get Marshmallow (Android 6.0) on the phone as stock. Either way, you save about $100 or more. There are other options as well, such as getting a OnePlus, or whatever.

their cameras ae rubbish sadly, if that matters in your purchase

    • I've got a redmi note 5 pro with SD 636 and absolutely love it. These phones are super popular in India.

Is this not better value for $338.99 shipped?

    • If you're parallel importing, may as well get Xiaomi, which will be better. This isn't a bad deal for a Moto G sold locally. Nice share.

      • Yes agree with this statement. The Xiaomi Mi A1 (Global Version, 4GB RAM 64GB ROM , Dual 12MP rear camera, Snapdragon 625 Octa core) can be had from Banggood for US 174 (approx. NZ$250) delivered using coupon code Coupon Code: 5BGA164B. Much faster phone with better spec. It's also pure android (Android One so will get an update to Android P). Only downside is no band 27, but that's fairly irrelevant unless you're out in the middle of nowhere.

        • Sounds like you know what your talking about. Can you recommend a 7 or 8 inch tablet for me?
