  • Man hasn’t shopped on amazon for a few months. Just browsing through to add things to cart and can’t find any as most that I clicked are exclusive to prime members now?! Like 9 out of 10 items that I clicked. Im

    • Okay tried a different combination, no luck for me :( any tips?

      • Try filtering for seller = Amazon and add more than $100 (or maybe $80?) to cart

  • Its just some items, don't think it's an amount. I put a pokieball pre-order for $50 free shipping (which is good as few days ago wldnt ship to NZ) then I added a pair of $20 headphones that I just paid $7 shipping for few weeks ago…. Free

And the headphones aren't sold by Amazon, just fulfilled by them

    • Actually I think it's $25 usd after trying a bunch of stuff. Ppl say it's 100 on geekzone but I'm finding it 25+

  • Damn it I've just spent a fortune on shipping on about 5 different orders this month.

  • Anyone seen anything decent, wanted a Ryobi impact wrench and inflator but neither come up with free shipping (that I can see anyway)

  • I tested a table tennis table, cost $159 USD, shipping normally around $200 USD is waived.

    • lol

    • +2

same with a set of 50kg weights. $400 shipping waived ;)

  • Best deal I've seen in ages! Had something on my wish list that was $149 + $155 shipping. BOOM free shipping.

  • Thanks.

    Bought

    Das keyboard.
    Speaker wire.
    Micro SD card.

Good deal on rechargable aa or aaa Amazon basic made in Japan batteries (the black coloured ones). Unfortunately i just bought a whole lot of non rechargable ones so i don't need any.

I'm thinking this would be good for buying stuff like. Audio speakers. Projector screens.

  • Didn't work on mobile phone

  • Might finally pull the trigger on my ryzen upgrades.

    • what you getting?

      • Ryzen 2600 and some 3200 ram

  • Thanks so much OP!

Finally got myself an AmazonBasics Premium Single Monitor Stand that I've been wanting for a long long time but never got due to shipping make it far too expensive.

Hopefully Amazon don't go back on this possible error.

  • Nothing I’ve ever thought about ordering in my life from amazon has ever had shipping to NZ available. Maybe I’m cursed

    • +1

You can use the likes of youshop from NZPost to get it sent here (if you weren't aware)

  • I tried AmazonBasics Premium Single Monitor Stand and it shows $44.12 shipping.

    • +1

You have to go to checkout, select the free shipping option, and it's there. Tried just now. It shows $44.12 if you just look at the item, free shipping only shows at checkout.

      • Great, thanks Kiwical.

  • +1

thanks! bought a kitchenaid, only paid $288 nzd in total as opposed to 799 in nz! fingers crossed they dont cancel

    • 288 USD isnt it? Still, such a rip off in NZ

      • i got a smaller one for 188usd

    • +2

I was really tempted to buy one also however did a little research and learned that those sold on amazon.com are 110v models and will not work in NZ 230/240v. To use it you would need to get a step down transformer, keeping in mind the wattage of the appliance to determine the size of the transformer.

      • Still cheaper that buy in NZ. We have 110v for like 4 years not issue with 500w stepdown

        • sweet thanks Iasc. will grab the transformer when my wife wants to use it. im buying it mainly for aesthetics tbh. doubt she's going to bake that often

    • did they finally fix the whole electric shock risk on a bunch of their products?

  • bigbosssnake - Also, think about the import duty.. with the current exchange rate you want to be keeping your purchases under US$267 in order to not go over the $60 allowance.. if you go over this and it is picked up then you will be hit with a hefty invoice.

  • People please keep posting what you are buying.

I'm thinking of maybe getting a power tool skin or cordless power tools.

  • Thanks for sharing! Picked up 2 pairs of DC shoes that I'd been keeping an eye on… after just buying another 2 pairs from another site recently. FOMO.

  • +2

Amazon's site is really annoying, i tick refine by "ship to new zealand" then some products still show "This item does not ship to Taupo, New Zealand. Please check other sellers who may ship internationally". I guess maybe they will ship to NZ but Taupo is just a bit too far! Hopefully im doing something wrong!?

    • I had this issue too, wanted to buy UE Megaboom from Amazon ~~ always said doesn't ship to NZ despite ticking that box. -Dunedin

  • was looking at all the portable air con units, cant find one that get under the nz tax thing tho. but wow if i could, the postage (that gets wiped) is more than the unit

  • I got:
    Crescent CX6PT20 X 6 Pass-Through Ratchet and Sockets, 20-Piece
Crescent CX6RWM7 X 6 MM Combination Wrench Set
Dremel MM485B Carbide Flush Cutting Blades

    • nice one. i also get blades from amazon usually. local bunnings/mitre prices are just unreasonable

      • will they fit the bosch multitool.

        • multifit. They should fit everything except dewalt (without but a bit of filing)

  • +3

Thanks! I bought a portable massage table for $198NZD. Normally costs $230 shipping!! Best deal ever!!

  • I'm after a decent pico projector, but none of them seem to have free shipping

  • Just saved $116 worth of shipping! Thanks!!

    • What did you get?

      • Pretty boring - got 2 cookbooks (but they are as big as textbooks & cost $100 each in NZ), 1 marble rolling pin, large pastry bag and some shoes.

  • Thanks! Just bought the August Smartlock Pro

  • $226nzd delivered for Weber charcoal kettle bbq. Save $297 delivery fees. Tempted!

  • Tempted to buy a gaming chair and recliner chair but all the good ones are either not shipping to NZ or not sold by amazon. Also it's really annoying that even though it says ships to NZ but some products errors out after choosing address… Bought bedside table, mattress topper, 6 t-shirts, and backpack for 133 NZD. Thanks!

  • Is this promotion still running? Have just tried it now on 3 products worth 150NZD but the shipping total is saying 21NZD. All items are being shipped by Amazon?

    • yes just confirmed it's still working for me. I found that some items are not eligible for free shipping even though shipped and sold by Amazon.

      • Yes thats correct…all of smallish items that I need are coming up with shipping fees. Not sure what may work for free shipping to get this deal working.

        • Same for me, small items not free
But large items free. I wonder if its a glitch

        • Like 10 x microSD cards are eligible for free shipping, so I don't think size of item matters.

  • Yep, still running. A good way to test is add this..

    Dyna-Glo DGO1176BDC-D Charcoal Offset Smoker

Alternatively, test individual products eligibility by adding them with a quantity that exceeds $100.

    • Thanks mate, this item does ship free…unlike all the smallish items I have attempted.

    • Showing $266.97 delivery here, it's not subtracting the shipping. What am I doing wrong?

Please post what you're buying so I don't get FOMO.

  • Just bought a Pioneer DDJ rb controller, been eyeing out an entry level dj controller for a while, this seemed like the perfect opportunity.
I paid $380 nzd for the controller but had to pay $45 on top for import fees.
Does anyone know if I'll get a refund on the import fee since it was free shipping and the import fee is calculated with the shipping cost.
    Thanks op for the post!

    • Doubt it, they'll pass the fee to nz customs I think.

      • +1

I've had custom fees refunded previously. If it is under threshold and they are not charged they should refund you.

It's an 'import deposit' rather than a fee. Conversely, if they undercharge you on the deposit they cover the difference - win/win

    Order Summary
    Item(s) Subtotal: NZD 136.68
    Shipping & Handling: NZD 379.73
    Promotion applied: -NZD 379.72
    Total before tax: NZD 136.69

    • So presumably you are paying Duty on top as the total value(including shipping) is > $400?

      • I thought it was if PRODUCT value >=$400?

        • Its the total of Shipping + Product. So $300 product + $150 shipping = duty for $450 value

        • Not paying shipping though

      • The total value including tax is $136.69, so this is well below the customs additional charges threshold.

        • Yeah will be interesting if shipping costs on the label are $0 or marked as full shipping rates (just because it's $0 at checkout doesn't mean the shipping label will read 0)

        • @dcstz: I strongly suspect it will be. If Amazon isn't collecting the deposit it's a moot point anyway at this stage as they'll be the only ones paying it. It may mean they'll adjust what they do in the future assuming this lasts although most likely they'll fix what they report for shipping.

        • @Nil Einne: I get that Amazon sometimes charges deposits for duties where the total purchase value is over $X, but I don't think Amazon are responsible for duties (at least not yet in NZ, under the new law change they will be).

On various occasions I've had non-amazon parcels over $400 in the past flagged by customs and they contacted me for payment to release the item, not the seller.

The fact that Amazon charges it ahead I thought was them trying to help speed up the process to avoid buyer frustration, but I didn't think they're responsible. That and I'm surprised that Amazon's been paying additional duty on behalf of the recipient where they've under-charged, thats a win for the customer for sure.

        • @Nil Einne: Just checked Amazon's policy page here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hel…

They're pretty clear that they do it 'on behalf of the recipient' as I suspected. "You won't be charged additional fees if the actual Import Fees exceed the Import Fees Deposit we estimated." - that's awesome that they do this.

I wonder what happens when they get charged a duties when they didn't estimate any. Will be interesting with the new 'free' shipping options like we're taking advantage of.

    Computer cases
    Psu
    Keyboard
    Mouse

    • In for Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse, but all are being sold by non-Amazon resellers. Any recommendations?

  • Doesn't seem to be working here? Everything I've tried (supplied by Amazon, including items suggested by people in the comments here) doesn't have free shipping when I check out (I went all the way up to the part where you actually place the order)

    https://i.imgur.com/swPyiCU.png

  • I believe the free shipping has expired.

  • Damn. Had some stuff saved to cart ready to go but had not pulled the trigger yet.
Looks like they have caught on.

Edit: Catching on, I suspect they are slowing fixing items, Just managed to put an order though, albeit without the larger pot and pans set.

  • With great power comes great responsibility. Seems this principle was lost on a few, and they've ruined it for us all.
Having said that, I'm still getting Free Shipping showing up at checkout for small items.

    • could you share some examples? Nothing working for me

      • Actually still working, just ordered some more kitchen pans, Couldn't get the 10 piece set i was eyeing up., And a grill pan literally went unavailable from amazon right when I was about to complete order. Was fine all week till now.

  • Can someone tell me what KitchenAid items are being bought please?

    • I would've have thought Kitchen-aid would be 110v, so would need a step down?
