128GB Samsung EVO Plus Micro SD $27 USD (~ $40 NZD) Shipped @ Joybuy.com

210

My first post so go easy haha. Found this deal on Joybuy.com and have already ordered myself one. Thought I'd share since I think this is a bloody good deal!

I don't know if it's just me but if you go direct to the product page it comes up with some crazy price like $43 USD or something. However if you use this link:

https://mall.joybuy.com/pc/index-217.html

Then click on Samsumg evo link (should be on right) the price will then change to $27 USD. Buy and wait like 3 weeks and enjoy?

Hope I did this right haha.

  • Damn. Just bought a 128gb sandisk for us$32 on ebay a few days ago. I had a $5 joy buy voucher as well!

  • Great deal, last time at this price was 618, their twice a year sale

Is joybuy legit? I've had bad experiences buying sd cards/usb sticks from Chinese sites/Chinese ebay sellers.

    The usual problems are:

    • The capacity advertised is fake: if you try to fill the card to its limit, the files get corrupted. Only a fraction of the advertised capacity is usable.

    • The read/write speeds are lower than advertised.

    • +4

Yea Ive already got 2x 128gb samsungs from them before and ran H2testw and they came out to be legit

      • Sweet, thanks for the info.

Joybuy is run by JD.com one of the largest etailers in China. So yes they are legit.

        • Aliexpress does not sell any products they are like trademe which is always YMMV.
Having said that those SD cards are manufactured in China anyway so if you want to pay extra through a middle man to give you the "assurance" it's your choice.

  • Is this card UHS or Class 10? The description says Class 10, but the image suggests it's UHS 3?

    • +4

Both of mine came as UHS 3 128Gb. The 32Gb cards are the slower ones.

  • I've ordered one - wish me luck :-)

I signed up via the regular website, but geeze if you're going to install their mobile app then be careful about what permissions you allow (some earlier versions of Android don't give you a lot of choice).

Their privacy policy states they'll lay claim to your contact address book and web browsing history when you sign up, amongst other things. Whether they do scrounge this info or not I can't say but I certainly won't be installing on my devices.

At this price though and based on Tomo's previous good experience I'll take a punt on the card.

  • Bought one and paid with Paypal. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks. Just what I needed for my Retropie setup.

My 3rd 128Gb Samsung Micro SD card just arrived today from JoyBuy. Ran the test with a USB Card Reader so results may vary between ppl. Its a USB3.0 cheapo card reader

    • Thanks good to know they're legit. Would have felt so bad if somehow they ended up being fake!

    • Thanks for sharing. Placed my first JoyBuy order now. :)

  • Thanks also got you using PayPal :D

Mine arrived today, 2 weeks and 2 days delivery was quicker than expected. Item seems to be the real deal, 128GB U3 MicroSD.

A quick real-world test showed 80+ MB/s write speed which is great (copied a couple large ISO files off an SSD).

F3 read/write utilities (similar to h2test) was able to verify all 128GB is usable too.

I'm happy. Very happy for the price actually, thanks Toyspeed & Tomo.

If you'll be using this with laptops at all just be aware some built-in card readers are internally attached via USB2 bus which will limit the speeds possible with this card. I used an external USB3 card reader to get these speeds.

  • Mine arrived yesterday. I should have bought two! It's definitely original and fast.

  • I can't seem to find it through that link, has the deal expired?

    • Nope the deal is still there. Their SD card price comes and goes. I've been ordering mine on and off each month and the prices seem to remain around $40 as their special price deal for it has been there for quite a while.

  • Just got it today. Can't seem to format it as FAT32 though (not an available option under format). Gonna try formatting it on my Android phone.

    • It is to large to be in Fat32, it should default to exFat

    • Did a test on my Galaxy S8+ using A1 SD Benchmark and the write speed was around 62~66 MB/s. I then used a microSD to SD adapter and inserted card into my laptop and tested using h2testw and got around 80 or 89 MB/s write. So yeah, seems legit.

The hardware ID / info under devmgmt.msc looks correct as well (although that could be spoofed via firmware), but I trust it.

I should do a comparison test against my 64GB Samsung EVO UHS-I and see what the difference is.

  • Got two and both are defective… stalled during a write to one of the cards, and ran both through H2Test with errors.

  • Has anyone else had trouble receiving goods from this company? I ordered something 2 months ago, and it still hasn't arrived. When I contacted them, they said they would look into logistics, but then I heard nothing. There is no tracking info either, apart from a number with no URL.

  • The printing on mine looks like an original. I have bought a fake before and it had terrible printing.

    I got no errors with H2testw v1.4.
