I just found out that Burger King round down their prices if you pay by cash so you can get 9 NUGGETS FOR $2.90
If you really like nuggets and buy a pack a day you could save $18.25 in a year.

I was expecting it to be rounded up to $3. I thought that is what the supermarkets do.

Yes. Over 10 years ago now. Most retailers use a Swedish system of rounding prices up or down to the nearest 5c
