These are a factory refurbished product. A refurbished product is one which usually has been returned to the supplier and is then fixed by a technician and thoroughly tested. As a result, refurbished products will usually have a lower rate of return than new products since they are all individually checked and tested while new products are not always. So all-in-all, these perform like a brand new product (although you may find some minor cosmetic imperfections), and you get them at a fraction of the price! Please note: Product may not come in original packaging.

Please Note: This item is supplied with a third party wall adapter which does not have an Ethernet connection as stated in the instruction manual

"third party wall adapter which does not have an Ethernet connection"
Probably the biggest killer of this deal is when 1day decides to pop in a cheapo usb power adapter to cover the nice ethernet power adapters that the original chromecasts were provided.

    • Probably because the original is an American plug and they can't legally sell?

      • oh that's a distinct possibility too

      • Probably these are imported refurbished ones since the ones in NZ all come with standard NZ adapters.

    • Hmm I wonder if they are a common point of failure, I should probably just sub my current power supply out for one without an ethernet adaptor built in. I'd imagine most people would use a wifi connection as opposed to a hardwired ethernet like myself

      • I don't think these are refurbished specifically because of faulty power adaptors, more likely they're just refurbished units from another country that uses a different plug style.

I got my mother a refurbished tablet from 1-day some years ago and it came with a cheapo non-branded NZ plug. Wasn't happy about that and threw it away because who knows where 1-day got those crappy adaptors from or what their build quality was like. Bought her a Belkin USB charger from Noel Leemings instead. Expensive for what they are at $20-$30 yes but after seeing some youtubers open up cheap chinese power supplies and point out all the safety failings I wasn't going to take the risk.

Recommend just keep your original google one if it's working fine :)

You could add on one of these for $16 to get the Ethernet functionality back:

    Ugreen Chromecast Ethernet Adapter

  • What does the Ethernet adaptor get you?
    PoE?

    • Its just an ethernet port so you could connect it via cable instead of using wifi. Its not Power over Ethernet, just a standard Lan Port same as a PC.

I guess a 4k transmission will be pretty bandwidth heavy so Ethernet would be much better

  • I can't seem to get a price of $59.99, only shows as $79.98 for me - the AUGUST5 code only provides $5 off.

It arrived, and I'm glad I bought it. Came with Ethernet adapter and a Dynamix NZ power adapter.
