  • Am I eligible if I already have a amex supplementary card?

    • +1

Yes supplementary cardholders are eligible (we'll update the post above accordingly). Enjoy!

      • Thank you!

    • Hi there, no Amex doesn't waive annual fees. The complimentary flight and other benefits are worth much more than the fee :)

  • The annual domestic flights will cover the yearly fee as will the bonus membership rewards.

  • How are the fees paid (like once a year or every 6 months) and how long do I have to have the card for to claim the points? Are there other benefits to this card like free insurance etc. Thanks

    • Hi, the $149 fee is charged shortly after you activate the card and then every 12 months.
The points will be credited once you spend $750 and you can use them straight away.
Yes there are insurances included - please see the info in our article: https://thehighlife.co.nz/amex-platinum-edge-credit-card/

  • Thanjs for that info.

I'd also like to hear from people who have this card - how easy is it to book flights you want, esp around primary school holidays etc.?

    • +1

90% of the time I've been able to get the flight I wanted. it does pay to book a few weeks ahead

This is a very very good deal. I'm a bit annoyed I'm not eligible. For instance this will convert to 50,000 Marriot Rewards points - see here https://www.pointhacks.co.nz/spg-marriott-ritz-carlton-merge…

Thats up to 6 free nights in a marriot group hotel

  • How long do AMEX points last before expire?

    • Hi, they don't expire so long as you remain a cardholder and keep the account in good standing.

How much do you get for each referral?

    • Hi there, we disclose that we receive a commission but not the amount (it's commercially sensitive).
