  • Hi guys, any review on this product? Looking for something for camping. Was looking at the camper sleeping bag from Kathmandu and this deal pops up. Anyone I have this keen to share their experience please. Thank you.

    • I’m unsure to. Theres some cheap ones on trade me for $80. And some really good ones on macpac for like $600.

Hi, I've created an account just to let you know about the sleeping bag. I do a lot of hiking and overnight walks, I bought this when the last deal came up to replace another Kathmandu bag with a hole in it. I've used it a couple of times, it's a very nice and very warm bag. A couple of weeks ago I stayed in a hut right on the tree line, no heating in the hut, it got down to about -5. I had socks, a single layer of merino base layer, and a polar fleece on, and was adequately warm. This is normally a lot less than what I'd usually wear (which was nice, less restrictions while sleeping). The hood on this bag has been designed well, and after initial dubious thoughts about it, I wouldn't get a winter bag without one now. The bag itself has been made well and is high quality. The lining is good quality too, and spaced very evenly. Zip is good quality too, and the slider pull can be flipped to be accessed inside the bag (or outside), which is a nice touch if you don't want it in the bag with you.

I feel this is genuinely a $600 bag being sold for $139, and is a true bargain

      • Thank you. I purchased this sleeping bag because of your review. I’m excited to do some overnight treks into the forests near where I live. Slowly getting my kit together. Next is a one man tent on the shopping list now.

      • Thank you. I have also purchased base on ur review! Thank you for taking the time out to write it. Hopefully my one won’t have the problem with loose feathers as mentioned by another poster.

I also spoke to Torpedo7 about it thinking the Warehouse were selling factory seconds or something - they say it's normal for feathers to be leaking. I'm not convinced many should be coming out, so if no one else has this issue maybe I'll take it back again - third time lucky!

        • hopefully it wont happen to you again this time. I got a msg from the warehouse saying they have to source the sleeping bags from another warehouse thus will have delay on this order. Will keep me up to date within 5 days. Hopefully they will get more stock from torpedo or something. Would hate to miss this deal

I bought it the last sale. Camped right on the ridge line of the tararuas and got beat with the cold wind all night. I only had a single thermal and boxers on, I was warm the whole night. It packs small using the pull downs on the side too, great to drop into the bottom of your pack.

I bought this last time it was posted.

The first one leaked tonnes of feathers - I used it indoors and the whole room was covered after a few days.

I took it back and got another, it also leaks many feathers but much less than the first. As they seem to only be coming out of one small section I just put up with it now.

As others have said, it's incredibly warm. Even in freezing temperatures I've unzipped it a little as I was too hot!

  • Finally got mine! Yay. Looks good, looks a bit thin but I’m sure it’s warmer than it looks. It comes with a biggish black mesh bag. What is this for? Thank you in advance.
