Yes talked to them this morning. They did not expect so many people to sign up so have closed it. They are working on the people that requested one and more details will be emailed out to people once they finish the list.
Thought this was always the case
EDIT: It has been for BitBucket (also an Atlassian product) but JIRA (and Confluence) doesn't normally have a free tier..
