Hi guys,

Well i think we still have 22 months to go on voda $46 ($30+$16 handset) :(
not too worried about virgin as i think it's almost finish :)
Ouch, basically Vodafone charge out the remaining term of the plan at: (Cost per month * Months remaining) + Remaining costs on handset.
In that case, it would cost you ~$1000.
What kind of phone is it?
Would it be possible to palm the plan (And just pay the phone repayments yourself) off to a family member/good friend?
I remember being in exactly the same situation.
iphone 5c. oh well, will see how things pan out anyway :)
Worst case, you could look at selling the phone, would cover ~50% of the costs.
And then look for a deal like this when you move over.
Hi Mungicide, welcome.
It's a tricky one really, I always factored it into the moving costs, contract terminations etc.
One thing that I did a few years back when I moved over to Aus was to actually pass the contract over to a friend, leaving it in my name. Obviously I trusted her to keep paying it and what not, and we had no issues, but you'd have to be careful doing that.
How long exactly to run on the contracts and what is the monthly rate for them?
