MSI GeForce GTX 1060 6GB OC V2 Graphics Card

Core/Memory
* Boost Clock / Base Clock
* 1759 MHz / 1544 MHz
* 6144 MB GDDR5 / 8008 MHz Memory

Video Output Function
* DisplayPort x 1
* HDMI x 1

Think this is the cheapest a local 1060 6GB has gotten. They sell for similar used on Trademe.

A 1660 from amazon is about $350 - ~25% more for ~15% more performance

  • Can anyone recommend putting a few of these together for mining or are there better cards for the money out there?

      didnt that ship sail ages ago?

      • BTC,ETH,LTC all 300%+ this past 3 months. The ship is back from its 1 yr voyage.

        • I was thinking more the ROI, high power usage for very minimal btc.. Users that mine have huge datacentres with thousands of cards all churning lol

          • @jackvdbuk: yep very true, if you got a cheap power source then yea do it.

            Saw a story where someone strapped 10 high power laptops together in a backpack and took it to the library to mine coins!!!

  • Are these good for at least 5+ years? in terms of specs for future proofing, i know its an older card nowadays but just want to compare whether getting this or getting a more expensive one

      for 1080p 60

    • Depends on what kind of graphics setting you want. Currently these will run fine at high quality 1080p gaming but as the years pass, you would slowly have to move down to medium, then low settings and eventually settling down at like 30fps low settings in 5 years time. Also depends on what kind of games you play as well since some are less graphics intensive.

    • The card was released 3 years now, i used it to play games at 1440p60 last year which was fine eventually you will have to turn down quality.

      5 years? No, not for high-ish 1080p 60fps. You're better off with a rx 580 or preferably a 1660 ti which is a turing card for ray tracing.
