Original Coupon Deal

Was walking around The Warehouse and stumbled across this.

I think it's cheap, really cheap.

Two levels. Very wide and lengthy.

Free shipping with code (not considered an oversize item) 😂

  • I have one of these.
It is very flimsy and the wood absorbs moisture over about a year. It's a very thin top and won't hold much weight at all.

    Still worth $20 though.

hhmm moisture i see.. I'll be putting it in the storeroom where the dryer is, I got to sort something out to stop this moisture issue.

  • Sold out online now - looks like it was a good buy

Lots of stock in Northland. Christchurch

  • Thanks, just bought a couple. There are about 4 pcs left in Glenfield.

  • Bought 1x for my Spring Projects!

  • I wouldnt use it for any garage work a decent hit and it could break

  • Absolute shit - bought 4 units, 2 failed overnight with well below rated capacity (one had about 75kg top shelf and 50kg bottom shelf, evenly distributed and the other had about 50kg on top shelf and nothing on bottom shelf). I have photos of the carnage it caused, 2nd one failed after I found the first one collapsed and started to remove bits off the remaining unit, and lightly bumped it.
Now to see what the Warehouse have got to say about it.

    • Sorry to hear about that. Hope no one was hurt.

I did realize that they assembled the display unit incorrectly, so I wondered if that was the case that people followed it..

Did you happen to use a rubber hammer to hammer it real tightly? I have no issues so far. Have around 65kg underneath, nothing on the top.

      • First one no-one was around to get hurt, a few computers got scratched and one which had a tempered glass side panel, smashed, 2nd one was very slow motion as it folded in.
Assembled as per instructions with a soft-faced hammer:

        • Wow that really did fail. Interested to see what the warehouse says too! Now im glad I missed out on ordering this!

        • "oh shit" was what came out of my mouth seeing your photo! :(

That looks very serious, interesting way of bending and breaking. I'll keep an eye on mine, but I don't store expensive items on them.

I hope The Warehouse will compensate you for this!

          • @bigbosssnake: So finally got an update regarding this.
I initially contacted the Warehouse via online contact form, they pretty much said we'll do a return, bring the stuff back to the store you purchased it from for a refund. I was like "WTF"? you want me to bring it in?
Anyway, after cutting myself up and 30 minutes trying to disassemble the units, I got them to fit in the car (so pieces wouldn't come apart as they were so deformed, so I folded them up). I am glad I wasn't involved in a car accident driving to the local store because it wouldn't have been pretty.
Got to the store, explained the situation (had printouts of online corresponds and pictures) and then spent almost 30 mins waiting as they tried to find a free employee and find the SKU (apparently it has been discontinued and no longer on their system). Finally me and another employee went out to the car and started loading up the remnants on the 2 benches and hauling them back into the store leaving a trail on debris as no trolley in they had on hand was going to hold those mangled pieces.
Lady wanted to verify all the pieces were there (what, like I am going to keep some of these twisted pieces of flimsy metal and try resell it?).
Anyway after nearly a whole hour I got my refund ($40) and the Warehouse got a bunch of scrap metal and broken MDF in exchange. Was it worth it for $40 refund? Definitely not, but at-least I didn't have to try and dispose of the damaged shelves.
Ended up going to Bunnings and buying some "Rack it" shelving.

The remaining shelving I've got I am afraid to load any sort of weight on it, I had one that had a Printer (10kg max) and a desktop PC (10-20kg) and I could see the metal was beginning to twist.
I think it is poor marketing saying these units can take 100kg per shelf (evenly distributed), it should at the very least have 2 crossbeams to stop the twisting. While I was at Bunnings there was a similar unit that wasn't quite as long that was rated for 50kg and it was built much sturdier.
Hopefully no-one else that bought these units has any problems, with my remaining 2 units I might rip some timber and screw it to the uprights and long crossbeams to stop of flexing.

            • @Toddy47: Is that all you've got from the warehouse? I was hoping for some compensation for your broken items?
