Free: 120+ Standards Used for Building Code Compliance (Normally $$) @ Standards NZ

170

Over 120 standards used for Building Code compliance funded for free download.

This is a follow-up to a highly successful pilot offering free download of some important building standards in December 2017.

These 120 building standards directly help demonstrate compliance with the New Zealand Building Code, and include standards such as:

  • NZS 3604:2011 Timber-framed buildings. This is New Zealand’s most sought after standard, which is key for building professionals and homeowners. When read together with Acceptable Solution B1/AS1, it describes Code-compliant methods for designing and constructing timber framing in buildings.

  • NZS 3602:2003 Timber and wood-based products for use in building and NZS 3640:2003 Chemical preservation of round and sawn timber are used to select appropriately treated timber used in building work.
NZS 1170 Part 5:2004 Structural design actions - Part 5: Earthquake actions, which is highly relevant standard for engineers, given recent events, and covers earthquake loads on buildings.

The whole paywall for standards is such a joke. They want people to follow them but charge you to access them?

      I totally agree.

I'm actually surprised it is legal to charge for access online - surely all legislation, in the broadest sense of the word, should be freely accessible?

      Alan.

    • My boss was asking me to check some details for pre-fabricated buildings, and I found we gonna need to pay more than $1k to just get the basics. It was a very sad experience.

can someone share a zip with all of them?

    • i have a google drive i share with my work mates(building code, manuals for numerous building products) but i am not sure if i can share links of google drives here

      • You can create a copy of the folder with only files you want to share with the public. Then just create a shareable link to that folder only.

    • zip file will be amazing
