Things you need to know

This promotion won't be suitable for all items. If there's a minimum sale price you want to get for your listing, consider listing with a higher start price or reserve.

$1 reserve auctions are great when you’re happy to let buyers decide what your item is worth.

Discount applies to success fees only, any other applicable listing fees still apply. Relists are included, but only if your item is relisted on the day of the promotion (23 Nov 2019).

Car parts are included, however motor vehicles and large machinery listed in the 'Business, farming and industry' category are not (e.g. tractors and trailers).

Anyone know if it is limited to only 7 day auctions this time, or can we pay to have the auction end at a better time? Usually I pay the extra 25c to extended to end Tuesday evening, but since 'seven day' is written in specifically above, I wonder if they have changed the rules?

  • How do you tell if your listing is included? I got the notification, but when I go to list an item out tells me that a success fee will still be charged. Has anyone else had a different experience?

    • The notice I received said 'Selected members only'.

I'm assuming you are listing in the general category an not cars and machinery.

  • My wife got the email (I didn't) *Applies to selected Trade Me members who are recipients of this email (and whose membership is linked to this recipient email address). Applies to general items listed with a $1 reserve, within Trade Me’s Marketplace from 00:00 am until 11:59 pm on 23 November 2019. Limit of 100 listings applies. See our full terms and conditions below.

$1 auctions can be a risk if you are wanting a lot more for it. Personally I don't both listing anything under a guaranteed $10 as it is not worth the hassle with dealing with some winners.

    • The days or weeks lost on some people, I noticed there is alot more people who are not following through a sale and trademe now so it has become less reliable, waiting days for a reply, then having to apply for a refund and relist, then another week goes by.

      • So… pretty smart for them to sell it off quickly to a gullible European buyer :)
