Full credit goes to KINGMUZZAUK over on the UK equivalent of Cheapies, I found this on there and gave it a whirl here and it works massively reducing the face value of game pass.

First things first this does work but will require the use of a VPN to appear like you are in Brazil and following the steps properly. It also only works for new users that haven't tried game pass as it takes advantage of the upgrade to game pass offer. You also apparently need to not have an avtive Xbox live gold subscription.

Step 1: Buy the CD Keys codes for xbox live gold Brazil - $50.69 per year ($152.07 total)
Step 2: Log in to your chosen VPN (can be on a pc) and set your location to Brazil (I used PureVPN as I have a subscription but have seen others using Hola for free)
Step 3: In incognito mode redeem the codes against your account at redeem.microsoft.com (do not set auto renew on for the free month)

Once done you can shut off the VPN and go back to normal and your account should be showing xbox live for 3 years. Then upgrading to game pass using the $1 for 3 months trial offer on the game pass site currently upgrades any remaining Xbox live gold time on your account to game pass ultimate for free up to 36 months of value.

This last point is why you don't want to be adding the free extra months offered by auto renew, this will push you over the magic 36 month figure and means you won't be able to upgrade to game pass until you come back below that number.

The 36 months is the max (as you’ve said) but if you had ~7 months gold atm: buy 2x12 month codes - redeem first and turn on auto renew. Turn off auto renew and do the second (turn it on again when redeeming, then off again once redeemed).

You should now have 33 months, so buy the three months ultimate and that gets you to 36 (I think there may have been another month to auto renew here too).

NB - this is what I did (but with NZ gold codes) back during E3, so cant guarantee this is how it still works, but it should!

Yeah I think that stacks up and would still work out for new game pass users. I forgot to include that I've seen users saying you can't add these codes if you already have a gold sub you've paid for elsewhere.

  • Interesting to see if these game passes will be used with the new Microsoft console coming out next year.

    • I think they would be crazy not to carry over the same model to the new console. Microsoft xbox one has backwards campatibility and that is a big plus commpared to PS4

      • Who knows, Microsoft did try to make Xbone game discs obsolete by making games tied to accounts/consoles once activated.

        • id say it would work, there was no difference between live in past generations. plus this works on pc also.

itd probably be a big selling point actually, that way when you get a new console u have some new games on demand without buying them

          • @quote: I think they would carry this over, for launch especially if the ps5 and scarlet have similar prices but I can play most launch titles on day one as well as enhanced Xbox one titles and any remasters for a cheap trial for the service or existing subscription it would really sway me over to buying the scarlet instead of paying for a ps5 plus any games.

Getting it right now will pay dividends, I mainly got this for the pc titles but now I have it in tempted by an Xbox one and scarlet as I then won't be spending on titles anywhere near as much.

    • They will - xbox has said that Project Scarlett will be able to play all Xbox One games (I am assuming 360 and OG xbox games that are already BC on the Xbox One will work too)

  • Never knew you could just change your region to use other region codes, does anyone know if this works for games also?

    • You need a VPN, you can't actually change your region and it work. I tried to use a UK code for some old 360 titles in the account that I had in the UK before moving and gears 3 wouldn't work. A house wide VPN on the router later it went through on the 360 with no issues.

It's not that elegant but it does seem to work, and for Xbox live codes at least running a VPN in your browser is far easier than on the Xbox itself.

      • Might have to give this a go, im always seeing game codes for cheap but they are always US region

        • I used gears of war codes on CD Keys. The were from the uk but came in at a couple of dollars each. No drama if it didn't work but nice cheap games if it did. Shopto in the UK also often sells cheapish download codes from time to time.

    • Kind of - Xbox one games have no regional coding so do work (or at least have fine for me)

360 ones may or may not be geographically restricted, so I’ve had to use a VPN sometimes and redeem via webpage instead of console. (But not all).

Either way, once assigned to your gamer tag you are fine to play them

  • I have 1 month on my Game Pass Ultimate. can I make this work somehow? it's not recurring as I've cancelled it.
I'm keen to get this. Should I create a new account and use that?

  • Thanks can confirm this still works. I stumped up for just the 1 year Brazil key from cdkeys for the $50 and then did the $1 3month game pass upgrade so now have 15 months subscription to 4/5/2021 for ~$51. THANK YOU, happy kids, happy Cheapies Dad :)
