Price is $997.95 (once GST is included), unsure about shipping costs. Priceme mentions +$9.14 for shipping.
DragonPC had it for $898.04 (incl. GST) but is currently sold out: https://www.dragonpc.co.nz/index.php?route=product/product&p…

Looking at previous posts, they don't know how to include the price.

  • I recently bought an ASUS Zenbook UX430UN Ultrabook, way better specs, at $800. And did I say it's an ultrabook? RRP is like $1800. Sure it's not brand new, but it's in good condition so who cares. Unless you have spare money to spend (in which case you would probably be looking at laptops at a higher price range), then why buy this new? Nobody really buys phones at $1000+ anymore and it's smarter to buy last year's flagship used. Same goes with laptops. Don't waste your money, be smart with it.

Although I agree this Acer isn't really a deal but you can't compare a used one with a brand new laptop and complain about the price.

      • Not sure how you saw that as a complaint. I was simply giving perspective. You said it yourself, this Acer isn't really a deal and that's how I feel. Regardless of whether someone can buy a used laptop with better specs at a cheaper price, I'm simply saying that there are better options out there and I've recently bought a laptop at $800 to illustrate that point. I consider deals that are posted on Cheapies to be really good deals, not average MEH deals like the typical 50% off at Briscoes crap that you get every other day or week.

        • your 2nd hand item could fail tomorrow and you will need to pay for repairs that's the risk, and i cant agree with your no one really buys $1000+ phones either. but you are right on it's your perspective.

          • @kyogui: OK, let me make a correction to my statement. No one smart or sane would buy something that is ridiculously overpriced. Ever heard of the term "bang for your buck"? When phones such as the Poco F1 or OnePlus One came out, it was super cheap relative to the other flagship phones. However, just because they are cheap, doesn't mean they aren't as good as the flagship phones. In fact, they carry flagship specs and are even better than the expensive flagships in certain areas. They certainly have a lot of great reviews found online. I bought my wife a Poco F1 and it's one of the best phones she's ever used and people often comapred the photos taken on her phone with something of a Pixel 2 or Iphone. Check MKBHD's blind camera test video to see what I mean. Only idiots would spend $1000+ on a phone, when they could be spending half the price for something else that is just as good.

Would you buy a new car at full price, knowing that it will depreciate a good 10~20% after 6 months? Or would you buy a used car (which could break at any point), at a much cheaper price? People who think a 2nd hand item will fail that easily are probably the gullable ones who buy extended warranties. Most electronic devices are stable and reliable. If you do your research, you'll pick the right brand and model and there should be no problem. My laptop was released in 2018 and that's not too long ago. Just because I bought it at $800, doesn't mean it's gonna break soon. A laptop that was worth $1800 at the time should surely be reliable for a good few years, I'll take my chances. Also, I've undervolted and overclocked this baby and it's running smooth as butter. All my other electronics that I've ever purchased are running fine too. I've never had any faulty devices in the last 20 years.
