Pay via Mobile Payment at Any Supermarket, Get $20 Cashback with ASB Cards

180

Use mobile payment at a supermarket and get $20 cash back. First time user only, no minimum spend. New World, Pak'n'Save, Countdown, Four Square, Fresh Choice or Farro only.

edit: applied for the card yesterday and it appeared in my internet banking app today. Can then add it to Google Pay. Quick and easy. It seems you can't apply for a ASB card if you're already a customer though during lockdown.

Given recent events, and that we're unable to change the PIN limit for contactless payments on existing ASB Visa Debit and Credit Cards, we're encouraging our customers to use mobile payment options to get the benefit of the temporarily raised $200 PIN limit for contactless purchases in New Zealand.

If you've not set up or used an ASB supported mobile payment option (excluding PayTag) with an ASB Debit or Credit Card before, add your Card onto a compatible device using one of our mobile payment options (excluding PayTag), use it to pay instore at an eligible supermarket between 8 April and 20 May 2020 and you'll receive $20 credited back into your account.

Customers who don't have a device compatible with our mobile payment options or who still wish to use their physical card can request a replacement card that will allow contactless payments without requiring a PIN up to $200 while the industry agreed limit is in place. You can find out how to replace your card through Mobile Banking or FastNet Classic here. If you do this before 20 May 2020 by selecting "my card is damaged", we'll also refund the replacement card fee charged for your new card within 10 business days.

The $20 credit will be transferred to the account you used for your qualifying transaction within 10 business days of it completing (ie when it’s no longer pending). Offer not transferrable or redeemable for cash. Eligible supermarkets include New World, Pak'n'Save, Countdown, Four Square, Fresh Choice and Farro.

For those wondering why they were still required to enter pin for transactions over $80 but under $200, it's a fairly new change. https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/120920206/coronavirus-conta… (I visited Pak'n'save on the night of 8 April and still had to enter a pin, sounds like I probably just missed the increase.)

"Offer not transferrable or redeemable for cash." Lol, I thought the $20 is cash back into your account?

Been using my phone for paywave for over a year. Intially using them native asb app and now using Google pay version.

Make sure you've enabled it in the phone settings.

  • Would this work for multiple ASB debit cards under one persons account?
