Seems like a good value way to have a family outing when easing of restrictions allow. I went ahead and bought enough movie ticket + popcorn combos to cover the extended family as well, which should make for a nice, relatively cheap (compared to the usual cost at least) post-lockdown get-together memory. Thanks OP!

Thanks! My flat will definitely be going at some point when they reopen, so got one each.

Not sure if they'll be open in 6 months, due to lack of blockbusters. Just FYI.

    • They'll have to think a bit creatively to get the people into the seats. Have special one off screenings of classics (Rocky Horror, LOTR, Avatar, Star Wars movie marathons, sporting events, TV series (Clone Wars). Bring back big screen porn. Dress up sessions, special prizes, dinner combos. Divide movies into A list and B List (older movies) and offer a free or discounted B list with each A list ticket (should bring in some confectionary sales at least).

      • Bring back big screen porn

Cinemas will be ordering gallons of sanitising products… to get rid of covid19… and other stuff… on the seats and armrests.

  • Great deal, although Event is hardly a "local cinema" - owned by large Aussie chain Event Hospitality & Entertainment Ltd.

The cinema industry as a whole has been affected by the lockdowns (both here and abroad) and need our support, regardless of whether locally owned or not. Foreign owned cinema operators still hire local staff.
