These are about $5 on AliExpress, but things from China are taking an age to get here now.

Simply reads a few bits of information that are presented via the cars diagnostic port, then sends to your phone. I’ve used the basic torque app to display this.

    • Thats also my problem, I have around 4 orders pending on Ali, they are just not sending out at the moment.

      • Guess it depends on where you are buying from. All of my ali orders are being sent out within 3 days. My 3D printer only took 12 days to arrive

I ordered one on 26 Feb and it still hasn't shown up as being shipped…

    • Same boat as you, except I brought mine a week before. Hope it shows up. The application looks like it has a decent interface

      • You(Penguin) can message Nonda and cancel the previous order. I did it. They are very responsive.

Typically you get one of these, get it going, find there are no fault codes to clear, run up the app and enjoy seeing car data on dashboard type dials etc, and then it never gets used again.

  • It's a scam, ordered 1 in Feb and never come. Contact them twice about status but only offer money back when you asked for it at the end.

How is that a scam if they are offering moneyback? The items didn't show up because of Covid related logistical issues. 3 of my AE orders didn't make it and AE offered refund. They are not scam. Some of these items were last tracked in NZ, I think NZ post just dumped them.

      • No, mine was never be shown any tracking information and they were never be able to provide one. I ordered at least a month ahead covid19 lockdown. They offered refund because I paid it by PayPal so I can get refund from PayPal instead if they refuse to.

  • I also ordered one in February and haven't seen it - was just going to follow up.

I need to reset the airbag light which I paid $150.00 to have fixed last year the light came back on within a week.

It has now been too long to go back to the garage. Any suggestions anyone?

That's the issue I guess with the whole thing. It's a bit like a fuse, which is there to blow first and protect everything else. It's annoying when it comes on, but maybe it's trying to tell you something…

    • I don't think you will get it. Send an email to them ([email protected]) for refund. I got mine couple of weeks ago.

    • Get a new mechanic, it takes < 5 minutes to reset the airbag light and is free :)

Grab a cheap elm327 and the torque pro app, that will do a basic job for a low price, it will give generic codes and clear most faults. Or if you want a better system that will provide way more functionality and you don't mind a bit of tech setup grab a USB OBD K+Dcan cable and a copy of inpa on a laptop, that will give you more in depth BMW specific info and options.

Both of these options are available on trademe for reasonably cheap if you can't be bothered waiting for something to come from China.

Edit: I should add that both these options will only work if the car has an OBD2 port, I believe that is only post-1996 BMW's.

  • Beware! Ordered in February and yet to arrive. AliExpress send to be better than these guys. Not even sure if I will get mine.

  • Hi Kenlee/Community
Any ideas where I could take the car to? The airbag is supposed to be fine but the wiring under the passenger seat may be triggering the fault light.
I think that my son moved the seat, which is perfectly normal in any car let alone a hatchback - the light then came on.

The airbags were replaced in 2019 by Auckland City BMW New Market, as part of the Takata airbag recall.

BMW New Market would not reset the fault light without charging $500.00 even though they ran the diagnostic test as part of the recall and had the car in the workshop replacing the airbags.

The whole incident seemed wrong to me and very opportunistic on the part of a major BMW dealership.
I still believe that ensuring the airbags were safe and fully operational should have been covered under the recall warranty.

I took the car to another BMW workshop to have wiring checked and fault light reset - hence the charge. The light came back on within a week.

    Thoughts?? Suggestions??

    Many thanks
    Kate

    • Is your car an e36 or e46?

  • BMW 318Ti 2003, an e46 I think.

Sounds Like a faulty passenger seat occupancy sensor. Really common issue with BMW.
But a bypass unit, plug it in and itll fix the problem. May or may not have to reset the light, any one with a scanner can do this.

    • Wow you are so lucky. Im wondering why it is coming from Shanghai not USA

  • For those who think these guys are a scam, they are not.

I ordered mine back in March. Haven't received it yet so I sent them an email last week about it. They were fast to respond and nice enough to refund the shipping cost. All I paid was the shipping, so essentially I'm getting this product for FREE. Looks like the tracking shows it has been delivered today, so I'll check when I get home.

    • Just got home. Have received it. It's a pretty small package. Definitely shouldn't have cost $8 NZD to ship, it should have been free shipping from the start. Oh well, I got this for free in the end, can't complain.
