Skinny Prepay Endless Data: 4.5GB Fast Data Then 1.2mbps Afterwards, Unlimited NZ&AU Calls and Text $36/28 Days

Endless data

Hotspotting and tethering included. Endless data for personal NZ use on your mobile only. Excludes Roaming data. Max speeds reduced after 4.5GB of data usage per 28 days. You will still be able to use your data like you did before but you will experience some degradation (such as lower video resolution) when watching video, streaming or loading images. No rollover or gifting on Skinny Endless Mobile. Machine to machine services or any other similar activity that Skinny considers to be non-standard personal usage is prohibited (“Prohibited Usage”).

Endless slows down to 1.5Mbps Let me know how it goes. People say that it can stream 720p while others say it's "shithouse". I'm still on Spark until I spend all my credit tho.

If 2Degrees is usable for you and you have 3 other reliable friends/fam then it's $40/person when signing up for their unlimited data plan. This Skinny deal is for people without friends like me. (:

23rd June: I noticed Skinny changed their frontpage to say that it gets slowed down to 1.2mpbs. RIP.

  • vodafone has endless data too

It will be interesting to see what it is like for people. I was gutted when this came out because it meant the end of the 30GB rollover plan where you could boost up your data stockpile as required. As soon as my existing rollover data runs out I think I'll be leaving Skinny mobile due to this unfortunately.

    • Oh what. So rollovers gone now? That sucks

      • rollover on some plans is still there, but b4 you cld cruise along on the cheapest rollover and then when you ran out of data (or low) just get 1 month of 30gb then month after go back to cheap until data low again

        • Damn thats what im doing atm, and was planning on re-upping my data with the 30gb rollover in the next 2-3 months. Can you not do it anymore !?!? Blasphemy!

@sirhelenclark: i actually havnt checked, was just going on what adam said. with lockdown i am nowhere near low on data

edit - yeah looks like higher rollover plans have gone, just the small ones remain

  • I used to be on their previous $36 plan, & had accumulated over 40gb of roll over data - I have since dropped my plan to their $16 roll over, retained my 40+ gb at full speeds.

Oh darn, feel like I'd rather have rollover data. I downgraded from the $36 one in lockdown to $26, now I can't go back up without losing rollover. I like 'saving it up.'

  • Anyone hosting 2d unlimited family?

  • Anyone in it for the long haul Spark eventually do pay off with the data stack if you don't need a ton of data rolled over monthly (it's capped at 3.5Gb rollover) and can deal with the normal amount until data stack starts to add up.

My current prepay plan is now up to 4.3Gb a month without the 3.5Gb of accumulated rollover in that, and it's growing by 100Mb extra a month for only $19. I did question the data stack when they launched it as a feature as how far does 100Mb go, but a year later I'm up to 1.7Gb extra which is more than the base plan. Credit where it's due, I now have no interest in leaving as I won't get close to this amount of data to use anytime for this price anywhere else.

    • Do not understand the concept of the data stack. Do I get 100m extra data the first month, then 200m the second month, 300m the 3rd month? So after a year you will get at least 1.2G extra data per month?

      • That sounds like it could be alright! Doesn't sound that great if its just an extra 100mb each month added to your rollover stash tho

      • spot on, so if you sign up now you get:

        Month 1: 1.25GB rollover + 1.25Gb Bonus = 2.5Gb
        Month 2: 1.25GB rollover + 1.25Gb Bonus + 100MB Data stack = 2.6Gb
        Month 3: 1.25GB rollover + 1.25Gb Bonus + 200MB Data stack = 2.7Gb
        Month 4: 1.25GB rollover + 1.25Gb Bonus + 300MB Data stack = 2.8Gb
        Month 13: 1.25GB rollover + 1.25Gb Bonus + 1.2Gb Data stack = 3.7Gb

They did a promotion over Christmas where for 3 months they added 300Mb a month instead of 100Mb so it got up to 900Mb extra really quickly. Short term it's not fantastic but as I said it really starts to add up, after a year you're up to doubling the base plans data on the $19 plan.

        • When does the promotion of bonus data end?

          • @hhan7: It says 6 July on their website but I think it said April, then May then June so I'm not sure if they will keep extending it or not.

  • Thinking of moving from Skinny. Currently on 16 dolla plan buy accumulated heaps of daya with more expensive plan. What provider is everyone else on?

    • I’m on skinny, because my broadband is on skinny. I prefer one place to pay everything,

  • Keep in mind that the plan is 28 days so you do end up paying 13x a year. The real cost compared to other monthly plans is $39 (36+3). Still a great deal though

    • This^

Have been with Skinny for years, I want to move to Warehouse Mobile when I get the chance. I think they have the most value for money plans being 30 day plan starting from $12 a month. Another few more Gb of roll over data to use then I'll be sweet to move.

      • Warehouse mobile were atrocious. There was no way to top up the amount of your plan so you always had to put in 20 and then your phone would eat it somehow . I called to suggest it to them and they ignored it.

        • Warehouse advertise "topups as low as $5" but I couldn't actually top up $5. Had to spend $20 like you said.

          Shonky!

However with all prepaid you need to be careful that you haven't gone over your plan inclusion or you'll destroy your credit super quick!

I guess that's why you only pay for the plan cost. 2Degrees lets you pay for just the plan from memory. Hmm.

  • Edit: Skinny just reduced the speed to 1.2Mbps.
