    Apple don't generally cover parallel imported items .They will only warranty an iPhone for example with proof of purchase from overseas from an authorised Apple retailer If you physically purchased it over in that country. If you look at Dick Smith's terms and conditions they only offer a one year warranty from Dick Smith on there Apple products and not from Apple itself.

      You're always covered under the Consumer guarantees act as they're trading in New Zealand. This will cover your AirPods to work for a "reasonable time" (my guess would be a couple years at least) and will require the seller to repair/replace them if they don't.
