90 Day Prepaid Voucher Code With 32GB Per Month And Unlimited Calls + Texts $1 @ Kogan Mobile

340

Kogan Mobile is doing their anniversary deal with a 90-day Extra Large prepaid voucher for $1, which includes 32GB of mobile data per month (so 96GB in total for all 3 months) and unlimited calls & texts for the period.

Deal available for purchase until 30th September. Available for new and existing Kogan Mobile customers. After purchase you'll get a voucher of which you can delay the activation until 31st October.

Be sure to cancel auto-renew in your accounts page if you don't want to get charged $188.70 for renewal at the end of the 90 days. Or just be like me and use a prezzy card/debit card with a low balance, so it automatically declines on renewal date.

  • Great deal, imagine if overseas visitors can come in to the country with such a plan.

This is great… my plan expires Oct 29.

Thank you! Glad that this also worked for existing customers.
I can also confirm that after redeeming the voucher you can disable auto-renew straight away.

    • Yes this is normally the case for Kogan prepay plans so was surprised by the suggestion to wait. Even for a 90 day plan, you only pay once in that 90 days so I don't see why it would need to renew or it would be a problem if you cancel auto renew

    • Thanks, edited the post. I forgot that you could disable auto-renew right away.

      • Hi,

See Sal's & Nil's posts below, including Sal's screenshot showing how to cancel the auto-renew.

        Alan.

  • you can use paypal and easily cancel the recurring payment, this is the best kogan mobile deal so far
    thanks op

Does Kogan Mobile let you use PayPal for their plans now? As of less than 1 month ago, you got only use a card directly as far as I saw. And Kogan Mobile's website also suggestions PayPal is not an option https://help.koganmobile.co.nz/hc/en-us/articles/36003290303…

Note assuming this is like every other voucher Kogan has provided, buying the voucher from Kogan's website or Dick Smith (which does accept PayPal) is separate from paying for the plan via Kogan Mobile.

If you're a new Kogan Mobile customer, when you sign up for an account you need to provide a card even if you're using a voucher. If the voucher has no charge, you will receive a typical small authorisation hold on that card to verify it's valid which will expire/won't be charged. You agree to auto renew when you enter this card. You should be able to turn off auto-renew when you login to your account after verifying your email just after signing up for a Kogan Mobile account (no need to wait 90 days), it doesn't affect your existing plan. To be clear, this is unrelated to anything you do on the Kogan (store) website or Dick Smith.

      • well it was an option for me on the checkout page
i just did the payment through paypal

        • +1

Just to make clear what I was trying to say above: Buying the voucher from Dick Smith or Kogan's web store (where you can use PayPal) is completely separate from signing up for a Kogan Mobile account (which all evidence suggests requires direct entry of a card). To be clear, this means your Kogan Mobile account is separate from the Dick Smith or Kogan web store account.

The autorenew come from from when you sign up for a Kogan Mobile account. It has nothing to do with Dick Smith or Kogan's web store where you buy the voucher. Remove authorisation in PayPal for Dick Smith or Kogan's webstore is not going to affect the autorenew when you sign up for a Kogan Mobile account.

IMO, if you actually go through the process to have a working Kogan Mobile account it's clear. Unless you have, like if all you've done so far is buy a voucher, it may be confusing.

      • Hi Nil,

Where do you turn off auto-renew in your Kogan account? Is it in the same 'account' where you buy the SIM (kogan.com), or a new / different 'mobile account' when you receive and start using the SIM?

        Thanks,

        Alan.

        • +1

After you activate a new Kogan Mobile SIM using the voucher code they email you, you can disable auto renewal on the plan's overview screen at koganmobile.co.nz as seen here: https://i.imgur.com/wHEC8zZ.png

        • sal already answered your main question, but yeah your Kogan Mobile account is separate from any Kogan account. Although you could use the same email and password if you want (the latter not necessarily a good security practice), I don't think there's even anyway way to directly connect them. Kogan (webstore) also lets you signup via Google, PayPal or Facebook but you can't for Kogan Mobile.

  • I just ordered but seems like there is a delay in email confirmation and voucher issuance.

Normally it's within an hour or 2 at most

    • got mine in about half an hour

  • anyone know what network they use? spark?

    • +2

      voda

  • Did you guys really switch to Kogan or you just use it as the second sim card in the phone? I assume i should order this and stop renew my current skinny prepaid for the following 3 months?

    • +2

I'll be chucking mine in my second simcard slot and using it mainly for Internet.

    • Yep. With a dual-SIM phone I keep buying the new user vouchers from Kogan every month, and throw the old SIM card out every month after the new user deal ends. It comes to $4.90 for anywhere from 15GB to 32GB of data, and unlimited calls/texts for contacts outside my social circle. Use a Prezzy card or debit card with a low balance so the bank declines the auto-renewal.

  • That's cheaper than chips mate… 1 gig a day wtf. You could even sign up for 2…. Insane

  • +2

So effectively you can get 5 months of this plan with a $2 spend? Use 1 straight away then the 2nd on 31/10 for another 3 months?
Can you buy 2 on the same email and cc? And does this work on any phone?

  • Ordered and paid using PayPal.

  • Is this legit? I have never heard of this company before? I'm hesitant to switch my number and don't have a dual sim phone

    • +1

It's the company that bought out DickSmith. Based in Australia but source a lot of their products from Hong Kong. They're legit.

  • Whats the catch in this deal? There must be something…

    • +2

I'm guessing they'll get a butt load of new signups and some of them will continue using it. Loss leader. But a chance to get a load of new customers.

    • Worth remembering that Kogan has been doing their regular 30 day new customer deals often 32GB, recently 15GB. Yeah that was $4.90 but it's not likely they're making much money from it. I mean even the free SIM probably costs around $1-$2 for them. They also did predict the Super Rugby outcome thing with a free 4GB (ironically since I was fooling I predicted all games being drawn). Yeah you needed to buy a SIM for that but again, the SIMs are unlikely to have any real profit, they may be sold at a loss.

In other words, while from the consumer this may be a fair better deal, from Kogan, it's probably not that different. Their ultimate goal is to get regular customers at whatever level.

Press Release thanks to Geekzones topman Freitasm

Prepay provider, Kogan Mobile is celebrating its one year anniversary in the market and to mark the occasion, it’ll be launching a special $1 prepay deal with 90 days of mobile connectivity – a market smashing Kogan prepay plan to become available.

The promotion is open to new and existing customers who will pay $1 for a 90 day plan, which includes 32GB of data per 30 days and unlimited calls and texts to any New Zealand and Australian numbers.

Kogan.com CEO, Ruslan Kogan says: “We launched in New Zealand because we saw a real gap in competitive phone plans, especially with data inclusions. We made a promise to set a new benchmark for what a great value mobile deal looks like and have continued to do so, which is why we’re excited to launch this special selling our 90 day plan for just $1.”

“This means Kiwis get $187.70 off what they’d usually pay, and our 90 day plan is already one of the cheapest prepay offerings in New Zealand.”

Kogan Mobile introduced itself to New Zealand a year ago, with the aim to shake things up in the telco market. Powered by Vodafone, the challenger brand is all about delivering value with no setup, hidden fees or excess usage charges.

The $1 phone deal is available from today and new and existing customers will need to sign up by 30 September 2020 to redeem it.

Voucher expires at 11:59pm on 31/10/2020.

  • any problems porting??

  • Thanks OP, bought 4 for the family

    • Did you use four different accounts?

I could not seem to add more than one to the cart.

      Thanks,

      Alan.

      • Ordered 4 times - same account

        • Do you mean you submitted an order for one $1 voucher, four separate times, rather than orders 4 x $1 = $4 at once?

If so, I might have to go back and try that too when I get home!

          Alan.

          • @Alan6984: Yes, exactly what I did . I’ve got all of them in my email but I haven’t tried redeeming any yet

            • @Dago: Thanks Dago.

              • @Alan6984: Just received mine so less than a week since i ordered them for the SIM cards to arrive. Pretty good deal.

                • @Dago: I've ordered a second SIM / voucher too.

                  Yes - very good deal.

                  Thanks,

                  Alan.

  • Hey i have lost my prezzy card associated with my kogan sim card purchase. It only shows 10 digits on it on the email. And it asks for credit card again when activating sim. Anyone know anyway around this? Rung The post shop can give me the barcode of the prezzy card but its not 16 digits long. Could this held me find my prezzy card through some emails? Help anyone cheers. Just need a second phone for calling

    • +1

If you just need a second phone for calling, then buy a new $1 SIM / voucher, and don't worry about it?

      Alan.

    • That is why they recommend you register your prezzy card as soon as you buy them.

    • Do you actually have any money on the card any more? If you do, isn't that what you're worried about? I'd concentrate on trying to get your money. If you don't have any money on the card, then it's unlikely it will work for activation since AFAIK, Kogan always makes a ~$1 authorisation hold to check the card, as most companies do.

The chance that Kogan/Dick Smith is going to give you your full credit card number is IMO close to zero. For starters, unless you saved your card, as I understand the way good companies manage card transactions, it's quite likely that Kogan/Dick Smith does not know your full card anymore. Also even if they did, this is a classic fraud risk, and while it is theoretically possible with a lot of social engineering and incompetent staff, it is very unlikely nowadays for a company the size of Kogan/Dick Smith IMO.

You'll just have to use a different card for activating. Note that as I tried explaining in earlier posts, buying the voucher (with free SIM if you chose that option) is mostly unconnected to activating it. You need a credit card to activate the SIM with Kogan Mobile, and you'll likely want to turn off autorenews after you do. You also need some way to pay the store (Kogan store website or Dick Smith) you're buying it from, generally via a credit card. Whether you use the same card, or different cards, or even no card for buying it, that's up to you.

  • How long does it take for the SIM to arrive?

    • I received mine in about three days.
