Over priced supermarket compared with paknsave with exactly same products
I shop at both regularly, it's not exactly the same products, New World down here is actually just so nice, it's got so much internatiional food I typically would have found at the artisan supermarkets. Bakery standards are infinitely better etc etc, they are a more premium supermarket and fact is, sometimes they have deals better than Pak'n'Save.
Pak'n'Save is where I go to stock up on cheap shit, they have been stepping up their game in variety but they just don't have the brands of milk i like to buy, like "Zorganic" or some of the Lewis Road Creamery stuff etc.
Same with my local Countdown. Nice store with small lines. + Have a great range of health foods and a better range of frozen fruits. A lot more individual / 6-pack beers, whereas PNS tends to focus on larger quantities. Do prefer PNS for nuts, oils, spices, cans. Onecard points suck me in too.
New Worlds usually have better bakeries, butcheries and fruit/veg - in my opinion.
NW's fish and poultry are not fresh. Much prefer Pak n Save's higher turnover.
I think that very much depends on area though, the fish i encounter at the new worlds in a major city are REALLY fresh and have a good range. Pak'n'save tend to do more whole fish and random stuff in our area but I like mainly for "whole" fish. :)
I struggle to work their site… I keep getting the error message "Sorry, only New World Clubcard holders can buy New World dollars. View New World Gift cards here, or for more information about New World Clubcard, click here" - even though I am logged in with my Clubcard.
Now I get to call cust service and wait on hold for 30 min - yay!
