You could cancel the credit card just before 6 months so you only get charged the fee once, maximum usage and retain the 300 or 100 bonus airpoints. One of the very few credit card promotions going on at the moment. One easy way to use up your airpoints is at Mitre 10 where 1A = $1, you can price beat with bunning etc and use it as well.

  • Looking at the T&Cs, it seems that nothing is preventing from canceling the card before 6 months?

    • Airpoints Visa Bonus offer terms

Correct, you can cancel the card before 6 months. What I was trying to say was cancel just before 6 months since you've already paid the 1st 6 month fee so you might as well use it for a couple of months

    • Yeah, it looks like you right, there is no minimum spend of x amount on the first 3 months either like Amex susually requires.

So we should be fine requesting the card, all free, and canceling it on the 5th month aye? What you reckon?

  • May be a stupid question but I assume only 1 code allowed/works?

That's correct. On the form you can only enter one promo code.

  • Applied, thanks for posting.

    • Did the application process have any fees at all?

      • No, declined.

  • Apparently it is really hard to get a platinum credit card nowadays, they came back to me with a $2,000 limit which is laughable considering the bank I'm currently with keeps trying to get me to sign up with their card with a $10,000 limit.
I assume it is easier for someone who has previously had a credit card with more of a history.
