  • $250 option sold out apparently

    • You can buy the $50 or $100 option as many times as you like (until they have sold out I guess).

  • I haven't heard of sosbusiness.inkind.com before - has anyone else used them?

I have no particular reason to be sceptical - just a general tendency :-)

If we buy a voucher, will they be around in six months time (say)?

    Thanks,

    Alan.

    • fair question, wouldnt mind hearing anyone's experience with this?

appears to be an american? company that "bails out" helps out restaurants and businesses by selling vouchers ..

      "
They are high-value credit purchases that come with a bonus. For example, you can pay $500 for $600 in credit to use at your favorite restaurant. This way you support the restaurant by giving them capital upfront to use for improvements and investments, and you get extra money to spend on fantastic food and drinks.

We at inKind provide the technology to make using House Accounts easier than ever. Scroll down to find out how"

Used them a few months ago when we were being eased out of level 3/4. No issues using the voucher at a local cafe in Hamilton. The InKind app is new though. Must be an attempt to make vouchers easier to use.

      Here's the deal from September

Sweet, tinyking's link below as well to the FB page has positive feedback from local NZérs.

Also found this from tinyking's link :

As I understand it, the original idea of SOS Business was to support small local businesses through the lock down, mostly cafes and stuff, by providing cashflow through the sale of vouchers specific to a business. Especially during level 4, their incoming cash flow had basically ground to zero but they still had expenses they needed to deal with. Since the money went to the business, the main risk was if the specific business went under or refused to honour it.

Per the NZ Herald link or this press release, https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/BU2008/S00286/sos-business-v… it seems like InKind are partnering or acquired the platform. InKind already had voucher business overseas and had set up similar concepts as well. SOS Business was volunteer run, so unlikely to be sustainable long term.

With the universal vouchers, since they obviously don't know where you're going to spend it, it sounds like the money only goes to the business upon redemption although all of it instead of InKind taking a cut. I assume they make money in other ways. (Well obviously they have your money before it's redeemed but I doubt that's enough.)

There's obviously some risk InKind may go under, but it seems to have enough behind it this is probably unlikely. A bigger problem may be if they change their T&C or if businesses start to abandon them for whatever reason and you find there's no one you can redeem it at you're interested in.

The bonus scheme seems to be based on sponsorship. This time Goodman Fielder. It's good publicity for them. Plus I expect they're suppliers to most of these business so some of it comes back to them anyway. And it's better for them if they stay afloat. I don't know how their deal with Goodman Fielder works (are they giving the money upfront or only when it's spent?) but I assume Goodman Fielder did some vetting and are confident that they can trust InKind to not suddenly disappear in 6 months since even if they're just a sponsor it'll be bad publicity for them.

    • Hopefully they are legit - just bought $150 worth!

There is a list of articles on their wesbite, that seem to suggest it is: https://sosbusiness.nz/pages/news

    Looks pretty legit:
    https://www.facebook.com/sosbusinessnz

The InKind platform that SOS is using, says that the bonus credit expires in 3 years and the non bonus credit never expires.

  • thanks OP, after discussing above, ended up getting a $100 one , may get another one as a xmas gift… all these deals making my wallet hurt lol

ps: damn didnt realise we could use referral links and get some credit for OP / others in here……

"Refer a friend and earn more credit!

Know someone who’d enjoy a SOS Business account? Send them your referral link!"

    • Yeah bit of a bummer that you can't go into your account later and grab the referral link.

    • Cheers!! I wasn't 100% sure about the referral link policy - So I didn't post mine. It doesn't matter now since the deal is closed.
It is indeed tempting to buy all the good deals posted this week.

  • can we get a referral system up? I got the following, not sure how much credit it gives though:

Refer a friend and earn more credit!

Know someone who’d enjoy a SOS Business account? Send them your referral link!

  • Looks like they are sold out now. In the Initial email that I received, they did mention the 500 limit.

  • I'm a bit confused, you can still buy voucher after you select a business, is the voucher I buy gonna have 50% bonus credit or it's just same value voucher to spend on the business?

    • +1

I think only SOS Universal Vouchers comes with 50% bonus credit and can be used at any of the 2500 businesses but not the normal voucher purchased specifically for a business :)
