Just in case there are people who are not aware, it pays to check the ingredients and make sure you are understanding what you are getting here.

This is LIGHT Coconut Milk. "Light" is basically just normal Coconut Milk mixed with water (in this case Coconut Water), resulting in some of the fat (which are actually good fats btw) being removed. This product only has "Fresh Coconut Water (57%), Fresh Coconu Extract (42.9%), Xanthan Gum and Guar Gum".

At this point you might be better off getting normal coconut milk - Kara do 99.97% pure product (their non-light stuff), Ayam does 100% Coconut Milk / Cream, which are great for asian dishes. You could lower the fat level simply buy mixing it up with coconut water yourself or just plain water.

Obviously this product might not be so bad if you are using it for other purposes, such as smoothies or something. I haven't actually tried this one and it is very cheap, so hard to not say "give it a go" :)

I always use coconut cream for cooking purposes (curry). Coconut milk is too thin.

      • Coconut milk is not for cooking anyway… it is a milk substitute

        • ^Wrong. Coconut Milk is used for cooking and quite regularly in many parts of the world. It's often used where less thickness is required, commonly it's known as the "second extract" from when you are processing a coconut.

What you find next to the milk bottles at the supermarket, is not the same as what you find down the Aisle near the asian food section, take the 'Little Island' stuff for example, it's just tapioca syrup mixed up with a tiny percentage of Coconut Cream but it's sold as "Flavoured Coconut Milk".

@denverthedinosaur: Yeah I use it curries because I'm not a fan of them being so heavy.

Well articulated. The coconut milk content might not be sufficient for the dish you want to create

73c if you use the SASDEC20 code, make sure you use that 4c wisely

    • Ahhh yes, awesome!
