About Us:

Our main Pedelec brand is called NCM. Since its foundation in 2014, NCM's e-bikes have been stirring up the market. With a wide range of different models in the E-Trekking, E-MTB, E-Cruiser and E-Folding categories, we are quite diversified and offer both rear- and mid-motor engines, whether from our own design (Das-Kit) or from established brands such as Bafang. This versatility seems to have its finger on the pulse of the times. Rapid growth and over 17,000 e-bikes sold in 2018 prove us right.

This base level ebikes should not cost more then 1200 nzd you can get very well built non china made e bikes for that price

    • From where?

    • I'd very much like to know too please link to these very well built bikes TIA.

You can't, umakant is wrong in that regard. Though he's right that you shouldn't buy this bike, it uses shitty (Probably Chinese) parts from no-name brands.

If you're serious about getting into mountain biking and the fitness requirements for a regular mountain bike are too off-putting to you then you will be spending at least a couple of grand, there's no way around it. It's an expensive sport to get into but you get what you pay for, a high quality bike built from parts of well-known brands like Fox, Shimano, SRAM etc. will last far longer and be far more capable than any cheap crap like this bike.

NZ has plenty of reputable bike stores to look at, I'd suggest browsing their online stores to gauge prices then talking to an in-store rep to find the right bike for you

        • Hey Corex thanks for the reply and agree see a store and at least try a bike out. I went into the Electrify NZ store and tried out a Magnum bike, felt good and solid. This one -

Have you got an e-bike, what you reckon to this bike or do you have any recommendations?

          • @fatboyj: I don't own an E-Bike but I ride a Giant Trance 2 for mountain biking. My comment was mainly aimed at Mountain E-Bikes as they endure a lot more fatigue and stress. I don't know a lot about commuter bikes but I'd imagine the only thing you'd be wanting to look at is their range and torque. Honestly for all I know this bike might not be the worst for commuting, all I know is it's not ideal for mountain biking.

  • Hi OP, do you have an email address I can contact you directly on or one for your store please thanks.

Promotional material says 'no mountain you cannot climb'.

How much torque is there, then? I have had three ebikes, and only one was able to get up my (very steep) suburban street - let alone up a steep MTB trail - without the motor absolutely squealing.

Calling bollocks on the marketing material tbh.

    • It's on their website at 55nm.

'Proper' mountain bikes are around 70-90

55 should get you up any road or fire break with some pedalling, it's an ebike not an electric motor bike.

It uses a lot of old bike technology though:
26 inch wheels (most are 29 inch now, or maybe 27.5)
Disk brakes are mechanical rather than hydraulic
Gears are 3x7 so a lot more complex for beginners than the normal 1x11 or 1x12 on modern mountain bikes

It looks ok for occasionally using as a mountain bike, or to give a softer ride on some rougher bike trails.

I'd be worried only having a 1 year warranty on the motor
