The farm source card is great.. 16c off at Mobil. You can't combine it with smiles points though but that's OK,it's much rather have the discount!

    • My Farmsoure invoice shows it is only a 12c Mobil discount in Otago

Set up a M10 smartmate cash account but requires a NZ LTD company being formed. If you know of anyone with a home business then this will work great. Generally speaking 15-25% off timber and odd pieces. Good to have for those bits that Bunnings might not stock.

    • A got a M10 smartmate cash card account but I have found the discounts pretty poor. Maybe it is due to the low spend of the company and/or to the local small town of my local Mitre10 not having a Bunnings in the locality. Anyone know how discount calculation is made with M10 smartcash?
Currently cheaper for me to order from Bunnings and get delivered, I get better discounts and more reliable service too.

  • Does the "Main Industry/Business Type" matter when signing up for a FarmSouce account?

    • Hopefully someone with a bit more experience knows the answer. Still waiting for my card to arrive.

      • After searching for a bit, as far as I can tell it doesn't make a different. It's also worth noting that the SuperCard also has access to bunnings discounts.

        • I found the bunnings discount was not as good as the discount offered by the card in the main post.

However the supercard/farmlands entitles you to 30% off paint at Resene. The account is loaded under RD1 Limited in the Resene system.

Kiwifuel card, we get it through NZMCA membership.
Gives us access to the Caltex Truck stops for Diesel, and a discount off the truck stop price.
Current Diesel Sector price in Christchurch: 1.179, Kiwifuel gets about 8c off the sector price.
    Charged monthly to your account

    • Are there any petrol savings? The website seems a bit vague!

      • NZMCA website shows the discounts.
12 cents/litre for petrol at Mobil looks alright.

Have a Farmlands cards.. some very good discounts all around the place.

-12C off for fuel at Z/Caltex/Challenge
-Access to shops you may not have access to (eg Gilmours)
    -Discounts at Bunnings and Mitre10
-Discounts/rebates at a huge amount of retail places (NoelLeemings/SmithsCity/HarveyNorman/TheWarehouse/Briscoes/Repco etc etc etc)
    -Cheaper Power (Genesis)
-End of year rebate on pretty much everything you spend.

Some of the discounts are REALLY random at shops… sometimes its 1% .. sometimes its 50%

    • How do you apply for a Farmlands Card? Is that any requirements for that?

    • Is the Farmalands Bunnings discount fixed or variable?

What about mitre 10? I used someone else's and got straight 10% but heard it varies between stores.

      • +1

It is variable at both M10 and Bunnings, lowest is about 5% but fairly consistent at 10% or more. Also managed to get discounts on clearance / non-discount items!

I have a bunnings power pass as well, but Farmland always gives a better discount.

I never thought it would be worth the $500 "buy in" but saved that and more within six months. The biggest savings I have had is at Noel Leeming - you can load your farmlands card onto your online store account and see the discount online. Have saved upwards of 30% on somethings.

    • I’ve recently got a Farmlands card, and have received some good discounts:
      - Mitre 10: most items are 10% off, some 5%, some 0%
      - Bunnings: better discount than the Asset Lab power pass
      - Blackwood's safety: for a pair of 3M ear muffs for $37, retail $57

  • Just a heads up the Farmsource Supercard requires you to have an active Direct Debit account. (profanity) Direct Debit.

  • Joined the Top10 holiday pass. At the time was $50 and gave me 2 years membership. Part of the perk was saving 15% off interislander fees. Which at the time a return journey was more than the membership fee.

If you join all points camping it suggests maybe access to the CSC group buying scheme as well as 10% interislander and 15% bluebridge but haven't tested this. All for the low cost of $35 to join.

    • Don't need a business. Discount depends on the item.

        • +1

Not too sure eh. My one is through AssetLab. If someone else on here has a powerpass card, maybe we can compare prices.

          • +1

@Wakrak: Definitely a difference between customer powerpass and assetlab powerpass (the latter giving a better discount).

Also the assetlab powerpass discount was more than the farm source card discount at bunnings. But i base this conclusion when I had quoted on timber, screws and flooring at the time.

  • Hi, how do we get a FarmSource card?

On the website it mentions "Supplier number if you supply milk to Fonterra or another company"

any other way around this requirement?

    Thanks

    • just select "Other" in "Main Industry/Business Type".

      • Then it asks you to specify.. what do you type there? - I was going to DM you, but looks like you have that turned off

        • I added my actual industry type: ICT. lol
But according to the comments above, this doesn't really matter. :) As long as you fill it in to get past it.

I was stopped at this point when I tried signing up the first time a couple of months ago. But yeah, I filled in as ICT earlier today and my application is in. :)

    • I applied under individual business owner. No business income or NZBA id asked.
