  • Great card. Pain in the ass customer service to sign up online access.

    • Do you have to go into a local branch or can it be done entirely online?

      • I had to go into the branch to finish up the application.

And was without online access for a month or so waiting for them to mail in a card with letters and numbers that they use as 2FA.

      • I wouldn't waste my time with them. A while ago, I tried online, had to go to branch (twice due to being told different set of docs required by online and branch) and then they wanted me to come back again to brach.. I dropped the idea altogether

  • is it for new customer only? thanks

  • I thought BNZ always had this running (maybe I'm wrong), use to be $1500 spend in 3 months too.

Anyone use Amex Platinum Edge Credit Card? Is this a good card for everyday use rewards?
    https://www.americanexpress.com/nz/credit-cards/platinum-edg…

    • I am using Amex card and it is not accepted in many everyday shops. Small retailers avoid it.

  • Woah used to be $250 cashback and $1500 spend. That was 4 years ago. Great card nevertheless, 1.11% cashback on purchases. Don't think anyone can beat this. If so, do let me know.

Yes, this is the best cashback credit card in NZ at the moment. I have moved from ANZ to ASB then to BNZ credit card. They used to give you $250 when first applied and only $1500 spend in 3 months. However, if you want to apply it, please do not apply it online. BNZ has a very crap online application system. If you enter something wrong online to apply for this credit card, you will receive a declined letter in 2 minutes. Then you are not able to apply it again for the next 6 months. That is their policy and I was the victim. So please make an appointment to make your application face to face at the branch. It will take some time but worth it.

  • How to apply if you’re not a customer
If you’re not a customer, you’ll need to open a transactional account with us and have been a customer for at least 3 months, before you can apply for a credit card

    For real?

    • When I got the card, I never had any accounts with BNZ. I told them I was not interested in your transaction accounts because most of your accounts have monthly fees unless I have a mortgage with you. So I only got the BNZ credit card but not transaction accounts. I am not sure whether they have changed their T&C's.

Same, they opened a cheque account for me at the same time as Credit Card though.
