  • I have 3x flybuys numbers (2x flybuys, 1 NW). I've been winning on average 50 points every other day. I won 3x 50 points today after a 5 day no win streak.

    • I've had a similar experience of winning on average 1 × 50 points every second day with 1 × Flybuys and 1 × New World cards. A week or two ago I calculated a winning rate around 2% of checked prezzies. I must admit I would've been happy winning 1 × 50 points for entire month! I find it disappointing other people don't have a similar win rate as myself. However, if some people are winning more on average then some people are winning less on average for the average to average.

      • I'm pretty happy with the win rate of 1x 50 every other day. I've accumulated slightly over $100 in New World dollars for the effort of 5 minutes a day, with another $15 from today's win.

        • Same here (NWD). If I somehow got that up to $200, I'd be tempted to turn it into a Prezzy Card.

        • I think it was Alan6984 mentioned in a previous comment he uses 1 Flybuys = 18 cents as rule of thumb. If you wait until closer to Christmas then they usually offer a better conversion rate than normal for New World. Otherwise, waiting for a Flybuys special or promotion is another way to get extra value out of your Flybuys balance.

          • @Peter Wyngarde: Yep - that was me.

Definitely better returns if you wait until they do a 'special' on something you want or NW$.

            Alan.

          • +2

@Peter Wyngarde: When flybuys does the promo it's 28 points for $5 NWD. If you don't want to wait for the promo you can change your rewards now to earn NWD rather than accumulate flybuys points. The conversion rate is 28 points to $5 NWD.

Unfortunately if you change now your flybuys won't convert over but you can just save them to convert later when they do the promotion.

For me, NWD rewards is the best as I don't drive very often and often shop at new world for smaller shops as it's closest to home. I had flybuys points in the past but have never purchased anything off the flybuys store as I find everything overpriced.

            • @Stoic: Thank you. That's useful to know.

I always think what you're doing is best by getting as close to a cash equivalent at the best conversion rate.

              • +1

@Peter Wyngarde: I agree - I always try to get as close to cash as I can, as it maximises the number of opportunities to use the points / rewards, and you tend to get a better deal for 'cash' than when swapping points for items.

For me, a voucher for, say, Countdown or PNS is pretty much equal to cash (since I spend in those stores all the time). NW not quite as good as many of the brands they stock are the same as PNS (same co-operative - FoodStuffs) but sold at a higher price. However, I still go into NW regularly to grab things they have put of promotion, so pretty much as good as cash.

                Alan.

What's the trick? Getting 50 every other day is insane.

I'm on 2 flybuys number myself. I check that points are dropping before I enter and I usually try after 9am.

My last win was last Friday (24th Sep) and before that was the Sunday prior (19th Sep). What am I doing wrong?

      • The only trick is giving yourself the most opportunities to win. It sounds like you've been doing this already by checking all 17 prezzies every day while the Flybuys balance is falling.

What's really insane is my brother's partner won 1 × 1,000 + 1 × 50 points on the same day with 1 Flybuys card after starting a few days after the promotion started, forgot to check some days and didn't check before the points were exhausted some days!

      • People have definitely figured out the trick to it and are abusing that. The competitions description is inaccurate, it clearly is not JUST random, it's a combination of random and timed delivery, which is bullshit if you ask me. Waste of time, thanks flybuys

  • I've redeemed $180 worth of new world gift cards so far, had just under 100 flybuys before this promo began. Have been using 4 different card numbers on all 17 links each day between 9.30 and 11.30

  • So we're all done and dusted at 126,800 for today. More points than expected at 55,700 won today.

  • When do points get allocated to your acc?
I've been lazy past few days so it seems the 5x 50 I got today was to make up for it 🤣

    • They usually go on pretty quick - couple of days max I've found.
Points I won yesterday have just gone onto my account now

    • One or two days on week days a bit longer on weekends.

Okay, I'll take the bait. How many cards are you checking?

        • geardropper must have the skillz (sic) on the State promotion. I played both cards on the last two days with no Flybuys to catch and each total lower than the previous play!

          • @Peter Wyngarde: I've had point drop in 10s and when I have run other cards like the club card it seems to have more dropping.i wonder if they have so many points released at different time in bulk

        • Well remembered or spotted. That's within my experience after scaling. The best to date is 1 × 50 + 2 × 50 points for my two cards.

          • @Peter Wyngarde: Similar here. Have three cards and the best daily win for me is 2x 50. I've won 600 points overall (50 x 12). Much better than doing 10-30 minute surveys for 10-25 points couple times a month.

            • @Wakrak: Are talking about the State Insurance game or Flybuys pressie comp here, lol?

        • @bigcheese ahh ok yeah thought it was next day but just wanted to double check

          Yup 5 cards still
have had 5x50 in total allocated previously on 3 & 21, but then got lazy for a week lol so overall it been good wins

Points are going fast today. Just got 5x 50 points over 6 cards in my family.

    • You are right. Scored 2x50 this morning after a dry spell.

  • Has anyone else noticed that the points available has gone back up today?
I was in a hurry when the counter was down to about 107,000 points to go just a short time ago.
Just gone back in again now and it's over 140,000 left!

  • Has the counter stopped for today? I can see it at 139250 from 9.15 to 10.30 and it's not moving.

    • Looks like it. The day barely started and I haven't even played yet!!! 😭

      • I wasted 2 cards with nothing. than noticed the points not moving.

        • Ugggh me too!

    • Would seem odd - you'd think it would stop around 100,000 with two days to go after today.

    • Might be some technical issues.
It did go down as low as 107,000 at one stage and then jumped back up.
Maybe they realised that they were going to run out of points before month end if it kept going at the current rate?

      • Or maybe they added back the unclaimed points back to the pool ? points won by invalid numbers.

    • So strange, everyone seems to see different points. The point stayed at 139250 for me since 10.20am.

  • Anyone win points since 10.30am? Please let us know.

    • I need to know as well. Still have 2 cards left lol.

    • I feel lucky with my timing today.
Managed to win 200 points (4X 50) but it would have been prior to 10.30am.

I have quite a few cards (10) which covers my family and a few proxies (ie my cat, a few very distant relatives etc).
Managed to win on the first few and then nothing for the last five and they would probably have been close to that time.

Given that I know the counter didn't start moving until around 8am this morning it makes for a pretty short window!

      • Lucky you.

Yes it seems a very small window when it worked. almost like an hour or so.

      • I tried entering before 9am for the last few days - probably just after 8am, when I saw the numbers start going down. Didn't win anything though.

Went back to just after 9am today and won the usual 100 or so points. Think I'll stick with that strategy till the end of the promo. I'm using 7 cards.

Wish I could work out how I scored my big win a week or so ago (8x50 pts in one session)… Repeated attempts at the same time yielded nuthin.

      • +2

Has your cat agreed to share the winnings or wants an appropriate Flybuys reward?

        • Yes my cat has graciously agreed to share his winnings, as has the rest of the ‘family’.
To be honest I have had my own Flybuys card for a few years but have never really used it before now.
I wished I had signed up the other members earlier as I waited until about the 10th Sept to do it.
My winnings are almost 3000 points combined so if the aim of the promotion was to increase awareness then its succeeded for me!

          • @bigcheese: I don't think the cat in this household would be so generous.

Wow! That's some haul and converts to over $500 with New World cards.

            • @Peter Wyngarde: Admittedly, it does take a bit of time to do 170 clicks per day over ten cards and I should really be doing other things.
              It's actually quite addictive.
Not sure what I'll do with all the free time after the month ends and the promo is gone!

At the moment all the points are converted to Flybuys so I think I'll wait for one of the deals to convert them over to New World $.

              • @bigcheese: No chance of RSI?

Same as gambling without risk of loss.

Some people make a living from competitions.

                Converting the Flybuys prize pool to New World cards is $267,857.14 = 1,500,000 ÷ 28 × $5.

          • +1

@bigcheese: Wow big cheese that's heaps

            • @geardropper: I’m pretty happy with it!
Works out about 100 points per day but this is over 10 cards.
I’ve had a few days with nothing and then had days with a few low hundreds.
              It’s pretty much all 50 point wins except 1x 150 and 1x250.

At the end of the day it’s just luck - no skill involved except waiting for the counter to start and then playing all the cards one after the other.

              • +1

@bigcheese: I think we all deserve a pat on the back most of us have been consistent

  • Okay given all the confusion I rang Flybuys. The person I spoke to didn't really appreciate what the issue was until I explained in some detail how the promotion has operated the last month. Anyway they committed to escalating my questions and getting someone to callback with answers before 6pm.

    • Appreciate that. Wonder if they can resolve this before end of day today, considering business hours are almost up.

      • Can't guarantee we'll be any better off but no harm in asking.

        • I don't suppose you received that call?

  • +1

You guessed correct no callback. I've been checking the website as well.

Based on comments above approximately 20,000 points were won today.

As suggested above maybe the points added were cancelled wins from fraudulent activities.

    • Appreciate the update.

    • If they do end up calling you back can you please ask them to start the counter today? lol

      • Still no callback. No surprise there.

      • They finally called back but answered a question I didn't ask!

  • So it's been stuck at 139250 pretty much all day? Weird, it would be so helpful if it would tell you that all the prizes had been won or something that day so it wasn't a waste of time.

  • +3

Boy have I been lucky. I have won over 4000 points since the 2nd. Never won anything over 50 points.

    8 tanks of petrol ( 2 unleaded 95 and the rest 91)
    4 $50 new world vouchers.

I still have 131 points from before I converted.
    Still have $1.51 a liter off with 200 ( 4x 50 ) pending

I worked out fuel is best. The amount d points to full a car 300 ish. Which gives approx $50 new world vouchers. Or points value is aplrox 51 based on each points being worth $0.17 cents.

Fuel is by far the most valuable as it's $116 for 50 liters.

The attendants at my local Z station are in disbelief everytimeni scan my barcode they ask cashbor exposure. I say Free and they check. And are shocked.

After 8 tanks they are amazed and question how I'm doing it. I've definitely been very lucky. As I've won pretty much $1000 in value and counting.

    1 account with 12 cards total. (6 flybuy and 6 new world club card 12 x 17 = 204 chances are day.)

Today I won 5 x 50 on 2 cards. The other 10 went to waste before I realized the counter had stopped.

    • +

    • i think a few of us may have milked this pretty well :) although it got my hopes up far more when they were trialing it

    • Wow that is incredible! You have 6x the amount of cards than me but you have won a lot more than 6x the amount than me! And are new world cards separate to flybuys? I thought they used the same numbers?

      • No - the NW ClubCards have different FlyBuys numbers on them - you can play both (today and tomorrow) :-)

        • Ahhhhh

        • If at all the counter starts and the promotion continues for 2 days. lol.

          • @ace310: It had started last time I checked (yesterday ended at 139250 and it was around 116,000 when I looked about two hours ago) - might have finished by now of course!

            Alan.

            • @Alan6984: Yes. I got nothing today. Mentioned below sometime back. Currently the counter is at 75650

    • just wondering did you covert the flybuys points to stack the discount or you redeem points for a petrol station gift card?

      • I'm guessing if you set the reward currency on your account to z or caltex discount then any points added to your account will be converted to that discount (4 pts is 3cents per litre). That will be better than getting a fuel gift card, I think.

  • Counter hasn't moved this morning

    wasted 1.5 cards :(

    139250 still

    • I haven't even bothered trying yet.
Still waiting for the counter to move.
This time yesterday it was almost finished!

      • Yeah i started without checking, then thought wait let me check if its active, which it usually is after 8am.

  • It's started!
    Go.go. go……

    • lol they were waiting to send an email out

      Edit: Ugh nothing today :(

      1 more day to go

      • Strange eh? Had a good day yesterday, but nothing today. Oh well, that's life I suppose. But still got enough flybuys points overall to claim a massager…. for my hands and wrist from all the clicking and RSI

      • Got 250 points today (5x 50).
It's going down fast now though - 40,000 points claimed in just 45 minutes!

        • Same winning rate as you with two cards so 1 × 50 points. Maintaining my approximate 1 × 50 points every second day. But nobbled my chances on Sunday and Tuesday by being late to the party!

    • +2
      • Ahh Murray.

        • I was originally going to reply with "Thanks Murray" but thought that might be too oblique or misconstrued.

  • Points are falling fast. No points for me today on 4 cards.

  • Got 4x 50 over 3 cards. Luckiest day yet.

  • Got a nice wee haul today, second best day throughout the entire promo.

Glad it's finishing tomorrow. So sick of watching the points and doing all the entries

    • Shhh don't say that else's marketing people will see and stop doing long promotions

  • Was a good day today. 5x50

  • Bad day here but had fun still

  • Continued my streak of every other day. Nothing yesterday and 50 points today. I was too late yesterday though. Didn't try until 11am when the tap had already been turned off.

  • -2

What a shit promo, clicked over 500 times and I only won 50 points right at the start. Randomised my ass

    • +1

Assuming there's no technical problem and you're playing when prezzies are winnable I would expect you to have won 10 prezzies. That sort of outcome would presumably place you in the tail to the far left of the bell curve.

      • Sounds about right.

I have done just under 3,000 clicks including family members' cards for them, and across all the accounts, have won, up to 29 Sep 2021, 19 x 50 points = 950 points I think.

My average is therefore about three clicks per point (or 150 clicks per 50 point prize if you prefer) compared to samohtxotom's ten clicks per point.

Anyone who won big prizes will probably get a very different average for themselves, but that won't change the overall average much.

Unfortunately, someone has to be on the end of the curve - that's the very nature of a random system.

        Alan.

      • +1

I believe that would have been the problem, I didn't click when they were "available" and just happened to get lucky on my first day. I only get one opportunity to do it during the day, so I tried then, before work and after work (so 7:30, 10:30-11, and 3-5pm). The competition rules state "the Prezzies that reveal a Prize will be selected at random by computer algorithm.", which is not really fully representing what's actually happening.

    • -2

Clicking on the links from the weekly email reminders helps a lot. If you use the links from Cheapies, then you're screwed, like me lol (made that mistake in week 2). Missed out on a few hundred points I estimated.

      • Interesting, i always clicked the links from here.
Was still a decent win from spending a few minutes a day anyway, ended up winning enough flybuys for $200 worth of new world gift cards .

      • I never bothered with the emails at all - I just used the list that HuntaKillaz posted here (https://www.cheapies.nz/comment/89786/redir) as it was easy and I'm lazy :-)

        • Cool. I didn't win anything in week 2, so I figured I must be doing something wrong. Used links from email in week 3 and started winning again. Guess I was wrong. Anyways, I bookmarked every single URL from the email reminders, and they are different from one another. That said, they will rotate the URLs ie. the URL for Z energy in week 1 will be used again in week 3 (just an example). And all 17 links will be rotated randomly. Ultimately, winning will still be dependant on time of day and luck of course. I did notice some URLs will check your location also.
