I think you can buy a Prezzy Card with NWD (and any other gift card for that matter).

Just use the self check out machines.

    • that could work, have you or anyone else tried this?

      • I have tried, but I was buying groceries and a prezzy card in the same transaction.

        • ok cool, I shall try my luck tomorrow. thanks!

    • Can you buy gift cards at self checkouts? I always sort of assumed you couldn't since they need to do something more than scan the card to activate it/add the money but I've never bought one like that so I don't really know

  • I could be wrong or out of date, but I think you pay a pretty hefty fee for each PrezzyCard - maybe $5 or something?

    Alan.

    • yep it is an additional $5 which sucks :/

      • +1

It's like paying a 5% (or technically 5.3%) premium on anything bought with a PrezzyCard.

        Anti-Cheapie!

  • I haven't done it here but I remember in Australia I tried to do that and it came back with an error.
I did that at Woolworths though through the self checkouts.

But yeah, I'm also interested to know if someone has done this with New World Dollars, but I highly doubt that it would work

    • I did try it the other day and it worked. I'm surprised it did, since they say you can't exchange new world dollars for cash but prezzy card is technically like cash, plus if you use your prezzy card through Paypal there's a way to take the prezzy card money and put it into your bank account lol (which is what I did)

      • Hi,

What was the original amount of NW Dollars that you 'spent' (to purchase the PrezzyCard) and what was the final NZD amount that you ended up with in your bank account?

Obviously there will be a percentage loss (PrezzyCard fee for startes) - just trying to work out what the 'loss' would be if I did this too?

        Thanks,

        Alan.

        • Spent 30 new world dollars + a few cents because a prezzy card is 25 + 5.95ish with the fee. I didn't actually deposit the whole 25 dollars from Paypal into my bank account because I used the prezzy card to buy stuff online, but I transferred about 9 dollars and that had about a $0.70 fee to send money from prezzy card money through Paypal to bank account. It's not much I guess, the major one is just the prezzy card fee

          sorry for the late reply

          edit:

so first you'd need to link the prezzy card to one paypal account, then create another paypal account, and send money from the prezzy paypal account to the other paypal account. I think that's what gave the $0.7 fee, then when you transfer from Paypal to your bank account that's $1.

  • I put my expireing prezzycards into sharsies and sat over lockdown am about to take out what I put in plus some
