Question: is this console more popular than the PS5 because of the value the Xbox game pass gives?
In terms of total sales it's less popular. It had a stronger launch than Xbox One though, largely thanks to Game Pass.
PS supply drops have been much more regular than Xbox in NZ over the past few months, so these get snapped up quick by people who have been waiting a long time to get one.
More people wanted a xbox now thanks to gamepass. Especially after how Sony price hiked their first party games
@tealeaf: You underestimate the brand loyalty people in NZ have to PS. Several of my friends refuse to even consider Xbox even when I tell them about the value of Game Pass - they don't even play the Sony exclusives either lol.
@NeM2k2: You only have to see the reaction to starfield being Xbox exclusive to laugh and the Sony fans that are so used to having all the good exclusive games. Microsoft have had to say this week "we don't know how else to say it, you aren't getting starfield on your ps5".
I can't see how anyone can refute that for $950 you can either get a ps5 with 1 game, or a series X with 3 years of game pass which includes all the first party games you would ever want. To me it's a no brainer.

I will eventually get a second - for online games you can have both playing simultaneously (one license to your account, one to console). I currently have an OG Xbox One and Series X, so kids and I can play at the same time
Probably less, after you factor in limited edition, supply chain shortages, NZ being at the bottom of the list by country in number of consoles supplied…
Multiple people got XBSX via harvey norman preorder today across NZ. Waited about a month to get the call so they are making their way out slowly.
Varies by store, though. I preordered in May, and when I called yesterday the store said they got two, and weren’t prioritising by first preorder.

@Peter Wyngarde: WH Money cardholders are being converted into Purple Visa cardholders. I think Purple Visa gives points on spend at TWH Group (Noel's etc). It has a fee though, and the points aren't a good deal
