        • It is still in zip app, so thought its active. Didn't check the dates

Edit : Weird, it says available between 26th August to 5th September. Though DAD doesn't work.

  • For those who have these, how much do you actually use them and what for ? :)

    • Keen to know as well. I have just bought some Sonos gear. Can I control it via this?

If it works with Google yes, the advantage of the screen is that it will show each individual speaker with their volume Control. It's cycles through your Google photo album so quite good in the kitchen. You can bring up recipes and have visual text and photos. You can watch Netflix TVNZ YouTube etc you can use it as a timer when you are cooking it has a visual countdown clock and audible alarm. Great for spelling, shows you text. If you ask a question, it will give you an answer and a visual display of it. can listen to the radio. The sound is pretty good for music at lower volume levels. Visual and audio weather forecast. You can cast from your smart phone. That's all I do with it really; you can also use it for routines like if you get up in the morning say good morning it will run through the weather forecast and tasks to do that day etc. Also, video calling (Duo) although it doesn't have a camera, you can see the person, but they can't see you.

Hopefully only a specific album O.O

          • @Foodie: Yep there's some photos you don't want the public to see.

        • how easy is it to actually use the browser? I see it does have chrome or something built-in but that it's kind of hidden

edit: also are you able to sign into websites? I see you can browse and they recently added an onscreen keyboard but I'm wondering if it lets you log in and if it actually remembers you

@ognsoign: I wouldnt get a google home hub for a browser, be painful to use. I have a nest hub max in the kitchen and use it daily.
Might get one of these for the bedroom.
The routines are good, and hand to control the smart appliances. I have mine setup for lights, TV, stereo, AC, extractor fan etc. So the screen makes it a bit easier to control.
In saying that there are still a number of features that still will only work via a voice command.

And yes you choose the album you want to display. I have a folder on google drive called home, and I copy pictures into it. They then go on the home screen and the chromecast when its not playing anything.

          • @ognsoign: I can bring up the browser but not the keyboard , the update is a roll out and hasn't arrived here yet on mine. It may be useful for some but I'd rather use my smart phone. The funny thing is the Amazon show 8 which I used to have you had this function which is quite ironic really. The Amazon show 8 is the best in my opinion but for its software limitations as far as it's an ecosystem and not compatible with the Google ecosystem which limits its functionality for me but hardware wise head end shoulders above Google.

  • Seems as though coupons codes aren't working. Good timing though I was going to buy these after lockdown.

  • Has anyone been able to get the codes to work?

    • Didn't work for me either. Another way of doing it is to use the marketplace and set up a new account if you have a spare phone number and email yourself use a different email address for the marketplace to set up a separate account as a new referral and claim $20 each on your new account and your account. On your new account you are entitled to 3 months free postage as a bonus. I have eight accounts using this system.

    • Are you trying within the app or on browser? If in the app, have you signed up to giveit?

      • I tested the codes on another account that's joined the giveit programme. They were invalid when applied in app and on website (both logged in and out).

        • Definitely won't work on the website. App seems to be hit n miss at the moment with giveit codes. They show up fine on mine with the purple wallet, but not working quite so well for others.

          • @Wakrak: Maybe it's time to stop posting the coupon codes. It's making a rod for your own back. Also in your original post for the $5 coupon code it looks like you've mixed O and 0 in the two references. I tested both to make sure but they both returned as invalid. I didn't test the $15 coupon code.

            • @Peter Wyngarde: Codes were copy & pasted straight from The Warehouse website. & I think the codes are still useful for the many people who do have access to them. Just unfortunate that it isn't working properly for others.

Can't double check the spelling of the $5 code since I've already used it, but here's a screenshot of the other two

            • @Peter Wyngarde: I just created a brand new The Warehouse acc.

              • Registered on the app.
              • Chose Lower Hutt & Wellington as my preferred stores.
              • Different email and phone number to my main acc.

Two minutes later I got a prompt to join giveit. Did the cellphone number confirmation then chose a cause to support. Now I've got four new codes to use ($5 off x2, $10 off, $15 off). Took me 5 minutes to set it up. Not quite sure why others are having difficulty getting a purple wallet.

Or is it more the fact that people aren't able to use the codes without joining giveit? Only reason I add the text version of the codes is because people request them if I don't.

              • @Wakrak: Did you click add on the offer and it was added to your in-app wallet?

                • @Peter Wyngarde: In the purple wallet? Yep.

                  • @Wakrak: If people were doing that I don't think we'd be having these problems. That results in your offers being automatically applied in cart. My understanding is people are applying the coupon codes in cart because they haven't added the offers to in-app wallet.

                    • @Peter Wyngarde: Fair. I might have to explain it better next time I post the codes. Some people have had success using them without being a giveit member, but it seems to be an inconsistent outcome.

                    • @Peter Wyngarde: Doesn't help that OP linked the wrong deal😄.

                      • @Wakrak: I only clicked on last night and found it went to free shipping code. I assumed previously it linked to your giveit post and the OP had omitted the free shipping code.

    • The coupon codes aren't working. Please follow the instructions on the https://www.giveit.co.nz/ website.
