I was going to say that you can easily find these for $1 from a Pak N Save, but the free delivery and idea of skipping that supermarket middleman makes this seem like a good deal. I imagine the avocados will also be of a higher grade to those paperweights that the supermarkets sell.

The wife’s colleague got some avocados from a special grower delivered to her work.

It was indeed much better than the supermarket ones.

    • I'm curious what the sizing is like, I don't know how small "small" is and how large "large" is

      • The size is a large sized avocado but taste was really beautiful.

  • In for a box to try.

What could a household of 2 do with this many avo's before they go bad?

    • +1

      Eat them

    • Be like Austin Powers. Chop it up and make some guacamole.

    • You can peel and take the stone out and freeze the flesh when it's still green. They look the same defrosted.

    • Refrigerate them as soon as you get them! Then slowly take them out of the fridge as required.

The fridge prolongs the life of them and slows the ripening process dramatically.

    • You can freeze the pulp really well. We smush it and freeze into small packets. Once taken out of the freezer it goes brown quickly, within 1-2 days, so have to use quickly.

      • +1

Add a bit of lemon juice to stop the browning

      • What's the taste/texture like after a freeze/thaw?

    • As a household of 1 they wouldn't have a chance to go off before I ate them

  • Does the price ever change on the subscriptions?

Just wondering if it would be good to get a sub then pause it and reactive it once avocados are more expensive.

There goes my dream of owning a home. Rather have avocado toast.

  • Green avos from another avo box company last in the fridge for over 3 weeks

    • Was the flesh green or brown after three weeks?

  • Pretty basic website and Google doesn't reveal too much about these guys. Safe to buy from them?

Use code 15OFF and save another 15%

    • another hero

      • crap didnt see this before

  • Do you get approximately the same net weight of fruit per box no matter the size of fruit?

  • Note it’s extra $6 for rural delivery.
Bought some anyway, I like the idea.

  • +1

$24.25 to the South Island using @bigcheese 15% off code (15OFF).

    Thank you to all involved.

Nice! Gonna give this a try, love avos on Vogel's! The bread will be the expensive part now with this deal 😃

  • +1

    Looks like they've sold out.

    • Other sizes still available - I got 30 small including shipping to South Island for $20 with 15OFF

  • +1

Other sizes still available - I got 30 small including shipping to South Island for $20 with 15OFF. I like the small ones better anyway to just eat in one go :D

  • 25 for $25 back in stock along with some others.

Ordered Sunday night, arrived this morning (Auckland). Green avos, will take a while to ripen

    • +1

      Ditto,

Green here too but arrived fast (amazingly for ruddy ARAMAX) and being green means they travelled well.

      All good.

    • Pretty gutted mine still haven't been delivered. They've been "on board for delivery" for 3 days, and you can't get in touch with aramex - you call and they just hang up on you. Pretty terrible for a box of perishables. We'll see what condition they arrive in (if at all) :/

      • They are super green so if they arrive next year they should be fine lol

  • Is there a code for free delivery?

    • +1

The free shipping no longer applies on this deal.
However, they are offering $3 shipping nationwide.

If you use the code: 15OFF at checkout then you save another 15%, which effectively makes the shipping free on a $20 order and save even more on the more expensive boxes.

  • I haven't gotten my delivery from 2 weeks ago. Tracking is not moving.

    • Did you receive your order yet?

      • nope. and they stopped responding to emails.

    • Mine arrived after a week in a fairly broken box despite it having a sticker saying "fragile - avos on board" and "urgent delivery perishable goods" which I found hilarious and annoying. Fortunately the still arrived very green but disappointed in their use of Aramex for time sensitive goods when they can't handle lockdown demand. Especially when you can't even get in touch with them. You can call all you want they just pick up the phone and put you into an infinite hold with the most annoying repeating message it's amazing the effort they went through to make sure people absolutely would not contact them :/

Luckily the avos should still be green if the arrive in the next couple days but mine are starting to ripen now. Maybe get in touch with grower outlet to complain since you'll never get through to Aramex. Maybe they'll bother to switch providers. Although if it's "on board the courier" you can actually find their number and call them but they may not respond

      • After 1 week and the tracking number gone "delayed", I reached out to them - they were initially responsive telling me that they will follow up with Aramex etc and asked me to email them if I don't get it by X. After that day, they have been unresponsive to any emails. I've given up this order.

        • I ordered a box of 30x small on 21st Sep, received them yesterday @ 3.30pm (one day later than the ETA). I'm in Auckland central.

          • @akrotohur: Yeah I know people who got theirs in 3 days. They probably lost mine or eaten them. I'm <10km from Auckland Central.
I think the fault is with Aramex, but- they hired them.

        • Hi there, sorry to hear about your experience! We saw this complaint from a number of customers so we've just moved to Post Haste, who are delivering parcels much faster. Did you receive your parcel in the end? If not, let me know your order number and we will get this sorted.

      • +1

Hi Snowflake, just to let you know we've shifted courier companies to Post Haste given the negative experience many of our customers had with Aramex. We've had great customer feedback this week since the shift.

        • Not complaining here, given your great price and quality and cheap shipping. Just saying, you packaging is not great, my avocados were just put in a somewhat flimsy box with no padding, etc, I was surprised the parcel got to me in a reasonably good condition (was Aramex).

          • @akrotohur: Thanks - we've taken this on board too, we've improved our boxes so they are stronger and more fit for purpose.

        • Hey there, that's awesome! Thanks for taking on community feedback and improving things :) I look forward to buying some more in the future (although I'll have to find some others to share them with, as I'm struggling to get through 25 on my own!).

          • +1

@snowflake: Thanks! We've definitely taken on board all the feedback as we want to provide a great experience. We are going to do a special Cheapies deal tomorrow of 17% OFF for any box.
