Free - 6 Months Broadband For Small Businesses (That have Qualified For 1 of 3 COVID-19 Support Offers) @ Orcon

130

First spotted at Geekzone

Orcon grew from a start up - we know it's hard work, and we didn't have COVID to contend with. So, as a small gesture, we are offering small businesses that have experienced hardship over the past few months a COVID Kick Start of 6 months free Fibre Pro, our superfast fibre plan with blistering speeds of up to 950Mbps. Perfect for making your business unstoppable.

No data caps, no contracts.

To qualify for this offer you will need to:

  • Supply a valid New Zealand Business Number (NZBN)
  • Have qualified for the NZ Government’s COVID-19 Resurgence Support Payment, Wage Subsidy Scheme or Small Business Cash Flow Loan Scheme.
  • Agree to the Level Free Business terms and conditions.

Terms & Conditions

General

  • These terms apply to Orcon’s “Level Free” offer (Offer).
  • The Offer is available from 20 October until withdrawn by Orcon (Offer Period).
  • Orcon can withdraw or amend the Offer or Offer Period at any time.
  • The Offer is not available with any other new customer offers.
  • Orcon Broadband Terms & Conditions apply.
  • All amounts include GST.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Offer is available to any new customer who:
    > is a small New Zealand business with fewer than 20 employees;
    >qualifies for the NZ Government’s COVID-19 Resurgence Support Payment, Wage Subsidy Scheme or Small Business Cash Flow Loan Scheme (COVID Support); and
    >successfully signs up to a Fibre Pro plan during the Offer Period,

(Eligible Customer; you).

  • A new customer is someone who has not been an Orcon customer in the last 3 months. If you’ve been an Orcon customer in the last 3 months you’re not eligible for the Offer.
  • You do not need to sign up to a minimum term contract.
  • You’ll need to provide your New Zealand Business Number and confirm that you qualify for COVID Support during the sign up process.

The Offer

  • If you’re an Eligible Customer, the first six months’ base broadband charges for your Fibre Pro plan will be free. This will show as a $99.95/month credit on your account. You’re responsible for any charges on top of the base broadband plan charge.
  • After the first six months, you’ll need to pay $99.95/month for your Fibre Pro plan.

Other things to know

  • Fibre Pro is only available in fibre areas.
  • We can reject your application if we consider, acting reasonably, that you do not meet the Eligibility Criteria.
  • We will waive our standard $14.95 modem delivery fee for this Offer.
  • Non-standard install charges may apply. You’ll need to approve these before your order can continue.
  • If you choose to leave us after your free six months (we obviously hope you don’t), you’ll need to give the standard 30 days’ notice under our Broadband Terms & Conditions.

Can I say I'm a business if I work from home and game on my PC the whole day everyday?

    • To qualify for this offer you will need to:
Supply a valid New Zealand Business Number (NZBN)
Have qualified for the NZ Government’s COVID-19 Resurgence Support Payment, Wage Subsidy Scheme or Small Business Cash Flow Loan Scheme.
Agree to the Level Free Business terms and conditions.

    • If you got paid for it then it's a business.

I know you are kinda joking, but that isn't even vaguely correct.

Employees all (you'd hope) get paid for doing their work, but they aren't inherently a business.

        Alan.

  • Has anyone tried to get a retention offer being an orcon customer on full price?

    • If you are trying this, let us know how you go :-)

It's probably easier to just switch to one of the ISPs currently doing the 6 months free promotion

    • I just tried - they offered me $10 off the normal price per month. I asked them if they could match Skinny offer and they offered me a one off $25 credit but couldn't match.

      • So $10 off monthly bill + $25 credit?

        • that's right

          • @monolith: Not too bad. I might give it a go as well. Thanks for posting that.

            • @xsolider: I have got an email with $10 off, will call them tomorrow to see if they can offer any more

              • @Cheapkiwi: Final offer $20 off the monthly bill with 12 month contract..
                Taken it.

  • I'm currently on a one year contract with Orcon. I signed up for the offer and got a confirmation email shortly saying the connection will start tomorrow. The email contained a new account number. So I called them up to ask how would this affect my existing contract. The guy said that the offer is only for new customers and they will remove the offer and the new account number for me.

    • Just found this in the original post.

"A new customer is someone who has not been an Orcon customer in the last 3 months. If you’ve been an Orcon customer in the last 3 months you’re not eligible for the Offer."

Should have read it carefully before taking action.

  • Damn, I have a valid NZBN but haven't claimed Covid19 support

    • I think you'll find many, if not most, businesses will be in the same boat - a majority of my clients would be.

Maybe it would have been better to have claimed and re-paid. That way you'd have the documentation to satisfy Orcon!

  • Is there a catch?

Not that has been mentioned above.

You can leave anytime after six months (with 30 days notice), so it looks like a reasonable offer if your business qualifies.

      Alan.

      • ok thanks
