It's not banned as it doesn't appear in Film & Video Labelling Body Database (https://www.fvlb.org.nz/). It's more likely that they choose not to pay for it to get rated here as the cost may have outweighed the profit they would have made. Either way, great price and the PS4 version is even cheaper!
https://www.amazon.com.au/Blasphemous-Deluxe-Edition-PlaySta… I just ordered it this week from NZGameShop, gotta pay more attention to amazon :)

If you don’t mind buying from the eShop, it’s currently AUD12.75 if you create an Australian account. It’s a lot better in the long run. As mentioned above there are more games in the Aussie eShop as they don’t seem to bother to get NZ certification and some games are a lot cheaper like Dragon Quest XI is AUD54.95 for the standard price.

  • This was talked about by the developer on twitter, they decided to not apply for a classification in New Zealand (its very expensive and not guaranteed)

The only thing it affects is the ability to resell it, as it does not have a classification but it was restricted in Australia (ma15+) it is deemed as objectionable and selling it without a NZ classification label is a criminal offense as stupid as it is.

The whole system in NZ for classification is outdated and needs an overhaul.
