Two tips from my partner: recommend getting the 'mizzles' - they have a slightly chunkier sole that means the top is less likely to get wet in a puddle, and more tread/grip - the regular soles can get very slippy in the winter.
Also be sure to keep your big toenail clipped, especially if wearing without socks, as you can wear away the show fabric from the inside and cause a hole in the end (especially the tree runners)

Yeah, I didn’t quite understand the hype, thought most of it was just clever marketing. Until I got them as a gift… and when I wore them I was actually really impressed, they are incredibly comfy (right from the start). I have walked long distances in them and have had them for over a year now - haven’t had any issues.

I always hear they're great but I tried the wool pipers (womens) and they were terrible. The back is so low it couldn't hold on, but scraped against my heel with every step. The heel doesn't really seem much higher on the runners so I'm a bit worried to try them! Not sure if I just got the wrong size or what, they certainly weren't too big. Anyone else tried the pipers?

Thankyou for this comment @Cheapguy12, I was resigned to the fact there was none I wanted in my size/colour choice however after checking the Last Chance section I found some I liked. And thankyou to the OP for posting. They had a fantastic no questions asked return policy so thought I will give these a go see what the hype is about - luckily the sale was still going after midnight despite the website stating it would end at 11:59pm
