  • Has anyone bought using the education store? What do they normally check?

    • Mostly they don't check. I recently bought ipad 10.2 from education store and no checks were done.

      • Thanks, did you checkout as guest?

        • No. Just used my regular apple id which is not linked to any uni.

        • I don't own any Apple products and used my Apple ID created for Apple Music.

    • I think your account has to be verified in the same way they verify apple music's student discount (so unidays verification)

      • There is an option to checkout as guest. I got to the last page and no verification was required. Wondering do they do a check after the order is placed.

    • My wife is a kindergarten teacher and she bought an iPad on the education store and it was alright. No checks were done.
She did intend to buy it so she could use it at work for Storypark and writing children reports.

I purchased the iPad Air with AirPods under the same promotion last year and wasn't queried.

    • I've bought many items from the Education Store over the years and have never been asked to verify my eligibility. Latest purchase was last year during this same promotion and still wasn't asked. It processes like a normal order.

      • Thanks ordered mine yesterday, seems to be alk going through nicely.

No check as of last year when I ordered an iPad Air

  • Useful comments on OzBargain, specifically regarding uni ID check. general consensus is it is not required.

    • Have ordered a macbook air. Hoping it goes through.

  • Just saw that a macbook air is $1349 on the education store on the AU Apple website. We already paying a premium here at $1569. Surely should not be that much of a difference even with the exchange rates, guess a bigger market thats why.. Oh well!

    • $68.66 = $1,569 - ($1,349 ÷ 1.1 × 1.15 ÷ 0.94)

Items are shipped ex Australia by DHL and arrive in days. My order was placed on Tuesday evening and delivered on Friday afternoon.

    • Our gst is 15% instead of 10% over there. Still a markup though

  • Apple gave up / couldn’t be bothering verifying NZ Uni details about 10 years ago - prior to that you had to upload a valid ID or letter from your institution.

They reduced the education discount around the same time so I assume it’s cheaper for them to save the admin cost of someone certifying these than wear a small discount.

My lil' CashRewards extension is telling me that there is 1.5% cashback available at Apple NZ.

    • Thanks , there was a 5% cashback back in Feb

  • Would anyone know if they would honour a perior purchase. Bought a MacBook Pro 13" on the 3rd of January currently been shipped?

sometime u ask them, they can. If not, u just return the mbp, buy again

      • Thanks will do that.

    • +1

Chances are they might ask you for uni id. So unless you have it, return the mbp and place another order.

      • Thanks, they did say they will email me to show proof never happened. Have no issue providing it as it for the daughter and she's in Uni.

Shipping sounds like it’ll take a while for the MacBook Pro 14”, about 3-4 weeks! All other peripheral accessories have already been shipped.

  • Update, they honored the deal and had options to upgrade to the next airpods.

  • Apple/DHL's shipping is insane, overnight from Sydney to Auckland to Dunedin and delivered in under 24hrs. Got the 1.5% cashback tracked fine too.

  • Ordered the Max Pro, customised it and estimated delivery is the end of March. Ridiculous but will wait.

  • Thanks for this! Just ordered the MacBook Pro 16" - also a massive wait (6 weeks) but stoked about the free AirPods. Also got the 1.5% cash back.
