KN95 and P2 Masks - 10% Discount @ PrettyCheapMasks

30
PANICBUYENELOOPS

I've been selling some KN95 and P2 masks on Trademe for the last while, and they all cleared out yesterday. I'm bringing in some more P2 next week and later in the month, and have listed these as well. Would have continued to list on Trademe, but they don't allow you to list if not in physical possession of the product.

I've popped on a 10% discount for Cheapies users - the code is PANICBUYENELOOPS. I'm open to hearing thoughts on pricing; I've struggled to find P2 masks to import that are available for shipping to NZ, and the price reflects the GST and duty that I'll need to pay. I've kept the margins pretty low, but tried to make it worthwhile to do as well.

Hi, are the KN95s being shipped directly from China?

    • Yes. I've explained that in the listing and the header announcement, but will make the language clearer in a moment. Thanks :)

The P2 masks are not shipping direct from elsewhere - I'm getting them from Australia, and then reselling here.

Hi do you actually have stock locally?

    • +1

Guessing not based on what OP wrote:

      all cleared out yesterday

price reflects the GST and duty that I'll need to pay

Probably cheaper to get the KN95 masks direct from Aliexpress?

    • I have a very small amount, but not really. The KN95s ship direct from CN. I am getting fresh stock of the P2s to fulfil orders here, and that stock is due to arrive Monday next week - possibly earlier.

  • $7 shipping.

Please note that this product does not ship immediately - expected to ship first week of February.

We have ordered 1,500 of these masks, and have the option to order another 1,500. The first lot are scheduled to arrive around 1 February 2022, and will then be sent out to fulfil orders as soon as possible after they have arrived. Customers will be kept updated.

    • $7 shipping on the boxes of P2 masks, which are arriving in New Zealand from Australia. No shipping cost on the KN95s.

You've got to be really clear if you're drop shipping any of this.

Otherwise I think the pricing is good, especially considering the exploitative rates you see by other resellers.

Thanks, Plug. I thought the language was clear, but on reflection it could be clearer. I'll tidy it up in a moment.

Refunds provided if fake? There were a ton of reselllers last year producing fakes

The certificate of conformance image has a ton blurred out for no good reason.

    • This is a very fair question. If the mask was very clearly fake, then I'd offer a refund as goodwill. I've tried to be really clear that the masks do not come with a reliable certification - noting the following:

Note: Like most KN95 masks available in New Zealand at present, these come without any reliable certification (note that the manufacturer has provided us with copies of its certification, and masks will typically but these should not be taken at face value). Our impression from using and selling these masks is that they are good quality. We cannot guarantee that every mask procured from China will meet the standard in full. These masks are a step up from surgical masks, especially when adjusted for fit - but they should not be used where the wearer requires a very high level of protection, such as coming into contact with COVID-positive people for work.

Have you considered with your dropshipping that Chinese New Year is going to effectively shut down logistics out of China for 2-3 weeks with most factories already shut?

    • Re the KN95s, this is a very good point, and not one I had considered. I will add a note to the listings in a moment noting that this is a possibility. The P2 masks will not be affected by this - should be arriving Monday, possibly earlier.

I can't believe I'm the first to acknowledge the promo code. I appreciate your joke OP.

      Cheers mate!

    • Saw that too! Good for a laugh at least.

  • Reading the Web page i do not know how much more transparent the seller can be. Naturally, they would want to protect the source of supply, hence the blurring of some parts of the certificate. I have taken the approach of trust and ordered some. Hoping not to be wrong.

    • Thanks mate.

Oh also, so the seller who I have gotten them from has blurred the detail out - not me. I had tried to be pretty upfront, but acknowledge that we could be even clearer. I haven't changed the wording yet as still sending out masks for Trademe customers from yesterday, but will do it before I go to bed :)

      • OP, please just don't let us down. I would like to think that there is an unspoken code amongst cheapies that we add value (to like-minded others) and not abuse that trust…. 😉

They did a pretty bad job of blurring it out. They even left the QR codes in… Here's the certificate verification: http://www.universalcert.com/en/document-interview/%98%AA%F3…

Can't get anything useful from the test report though as the resolution is too low to read the QR code.

The manufacturer is Guangdong Connaught Medical Technology Co., Ltd

Note that the FFP2 certificate of conformance is expired.

What about this? Or is it for a different batch. You just got me doing some random snooping.

Interesting seeing the inside of a mask factory.

@Wakrak: Oh, interesting. I think that's a slightly different model, with a nose sponge and ear clips. Either a premium, or updated model, I guess.

BUT you got me on to what I think is the certificate of conformance for the actual one referenced in the deal site image. The number ends in /01 instead of /R2 in your case. I could see in the pic on the deal's site that the conformance certificate has an 01 on the end of the number (top right), but I was missing the / which is completely blurred out.

            So it's http://www.universalcert.com/en/document-interview/%98%AA%F3…

Which actually says that it's been superseded by /02, which is

            http://www.universalcert.com/en/document-interview/%98%AA%F3…

I see now that the bottom of the original one I linked references /R2 as the replacement, which I guess is how you found it?

However, the conformance certificates for both are expired.

The Alibaba page you linked I think is actually a different manufacturer. Gangrong as opposed to Connaught. Very confusing!

    Hi folks.

    • I have managed to get the P2 masks a bit cheaper. The price for the 100 pack is now $275, and the 20 pack which ships from WLG next week is $70 (probably a slight loss on these with the coupon code, but it all comes out in the wash TBH - will keep the coupon code up though, and feel free to use it if you need it).
    • I've updated the language for each item to be very clear about where the products are from. P2s ship from NZ and Aus, KN95s ship from CN.
    • Unfortunately, Shopify have written to advise that they think the KN95s may be in breach of their COVID Policy - I think it might be a semi-automated thing, as I've been quite clear about the certification situation and think it is consistent with their policy. In the event that they require me to take that listing down, all orders will be fulfilled - but may not be available for more orders.
  • Have you tried sourcing N95 rather than P2? With the latter being an Aus/NZ standard I figured it'd be hard to find it cheaper since it isn't made for other markets

    • Yes, but the price is pretty expensive. I've listed some now.

One advantage is that the sellers of N95s I've found do ship pretty fast, so a good option if you specifically want N95s and want them pretty fast.
