Paid to Get Boosted - Any Information?

Hey all,

Any tips on anywhere giving something away to get your booster shot? I'm due soon so figure I may as well try and get something for free if it's going!

  • The Unichem Pharmacy brochure is offering 50 Lifepoints if you are a member. So, I booked my boost through their link in the email they sent out and when I get there Dinsdale Unichem Pharmacy in Hamilton will tell you that they didn't buy into that - even though their brochure is on their counter with a front page advertisement of it.Check with the Unichem Pharmacy before you book,

  • My theory is there might be something planned on the weekend 4 months after Super Saturday. Many who got their second shot will become eligible for the booster on that day. So around Saturday 18th February?

By then there will be thousands of cases. Get boosted Now.

      • the govt should give incentives now ( and probably started weeks ago ) instead of later.

      • But you can't get boosted unless 4 months since second jab is up? I booked my first shot and second as soon as I was eligible in my age band. Still not eligible for booster yet.

        • Yup, 6th Feb for 30 year olds

  • I’ll be stoked with a free lollipop. Didn’t get one with me first two shots.

We got a lollipop for both our vaccine shots. Got the booster at the doctors so asked the nurse if we could get a lollipop ( they were on her desk) she said no as she didn't want us to take off our masks. Went to the waiting room for our 10 minutes and the receptionist offered us a chocolate. (haha which we could eat then). Grand daughter 7 got an iceblock while waiting afterward and a goodie bag on the way out. And a plaster to show she had her shot to everyone and the soft toy had a plaster on. Each kids booth was highly decorated. eg balloons, glow in the dark stars, kid friendly nurses. (Great experience for her) That was in the walk in in Porirua City.

      • Just got the boost. No lollipop 😢

I got a sticker. Which I stuck to my laptop :) - people were actually jealous as they didn't even get that.

  • Anywhere in west Auckland getting any thing for getting vaxed under 12?

Need a bit of motivation for my daughter

The Fono were doing $50 vouchers at westgate but since it’s moved to drive through I’m not sure.

Booster done. As a bonus I got to leave couple of minutes earlier.

  • Takanini Vaccination Centre - No queue and free coffee and ice cream on your way out today.

Saw some stickers on the nurses desk too but I guess 42 year old's don't get them.

Partner had a sore arm. That’s about it.

    • I had a sore arm as well for 3-4 days. Nothing else.

    • Nothing apart from a slightly sore arm where the needle went in, studies done on people in clinical trials for the vaccines have shown that there's a nocebo effect at play. Clinical trials usually have 2 groups, one that gets the medicine and another that gets a harmless placebo of sugar pills or saline solution, in the case of the vaccine many of the people in the trials who were given the saline solution instead of the vaccine still claimed to suffer a wide range of side effects afterwards.

You can read about it here https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanepe/article/PIIS2666-7762(21)00239-8/fulltext

TL;DR version, if you go in expecting to feel ill afterwards then you'll probably feel ill afterwards, but if you go in with a PMA then a slightly sore arm is all you'll end up with.

      • Yeah nah mate, definitely went in with a clear mind it would be the same as the first 2 jabs. Had no issues with first 2. Felt a lot worse this time round.

          • @budget: I just think that after 2 days it's done and dusted, if it was the real thing and it got me bad? What would a month in hospital be like.

            • @Foodie: Assuming there is room in hospital for you to stay a month!

    • This one hit me harder than the first two, headaches, and fever for 2 nights, tiredness as I didn't sleep well, then came right after the second night.
      Partner just had aches.

      Still don't regret getting it.

First 2 jabs I was completely fine, just a sore arm.

    • The first got me slight fever for 1 night (strange dreams that night) and sore arm for 3-4 days. Second; sore arm for 3-4 days. Booster; sore arm for 2 days.
